If Woodward gave a frick about men's basketball (obviously we know he doesn't), he'd fire McMahon after this year. But he won't.
Were you one of the folks that laughed at anyone who suggested Johnny Jones would be fired after 2016/17? Because we heard this every day and it turns out even Alleva knew it was time. What makes you think it’s different and that somehow this breaks the mold?
MM is getting fired in March. Period.

I'd love to see a guy like Fred Hoiberg come to town. Killed it at Iowa State and has Nebraska playing decent/well after historically sucking.

Around the 11:00-9:30 minute mark of the second half it was a 1 or 2 possession game. We kept getting stops but we just kept turning it over. He never changed up to run a quick hitter and he didn’t call a timeout to settle us down. I said it during the game thread that he was losing the game right there. You’re stopping them, the 8 minute TV timeout is coming and you’re turning it over again and again. You have to call timeout right there, settle it down, make changes and call your best quick score play because once the 8 min TO hits Buzz is gonna reset for the home stretch. Instead he waited until the TV TO hit and they had stretched it to 7 or 9 points. As soon as we come out of the TO ATM starts pulling away and we never get close again. MM has no idea what he’s doing out there.

Perhaps they should go back to playing "street ball" like the Rantards thought Wade played
I’ve got a friend who says that about this team now - it’s a coded- racism thing, like saying something is SWAC, or like saying they’re thugs or too ghetto

McMahon knows he doesn't have any answers. There is no use to call a timeout.
He is one of the worst coaches in the SEC. Think of SEC coaches who you would choose over him. Most would be on my list.
It's time for Woodward to cut the cord.

John Brady made a comment in the Texas A&M game about A&M playing poorly, but LSU couldn’t do anything despite that. They just kept squandering opportunities by just turning the ball over. A couple of times they couldn’t even get a shot off in time.
Brady was right, A&M's offense looked as bad as ours did for 3/4 of the game but they finally broke through on the offensive boards and then we either tired out or quit trying as hard in the end and they got some easy looks to put it away.
It's very simple in my view. Physicality takes us out of games. Talent and physicality are separate things. I think we know it as well as our opponents and we try to push back but we just don't have the dogs to compete physically, and we have not in the last 2 plus years. You can talk about the offense we run, the sets we employ and all that but for me it all comes down to this reality.

The biggest thing from McMahon is, is he gonna be able to stop Nate Oats from dropping another 109 point game on his team? That would make it 3 games in a row.

Lol, in the 4 games we have played bama under CMM, we have given up over 100 3 times with an average margin of defeat of 22 points

Embarrassing. The guy has no business coaching LSU hoops. Anybody that can't see it at this point can not be helped.

Jones should have been fired after the gross underachievement of the Ben Simmons season (15-16). It's possible he would have, but that was coming on the heels of Alleva trying to oust Miles in the fall of 2015 and knowing he was likely going to fire him (at minimum) following the 2016 season. Thus, Alleva kept Jones for another year where EVERYONE, including his players, knew he was a lame duck. The result was the team and fans quit on the program and it bottomed out (2-16 in SEC play). It was a move that did nothing more than unnecessarily delay the inevitable.
I'm 95% expecting the same to happen here. Assuming the season turns out like it appears, failing to move on after this season would simply be delaying the inevitable and would likely set up a lame duck season next year. However, with the big push for money this offseason ahead of the 2025 football season (which should be an "all in" season) I don't think Woodward wants to go to the well for money to pay McMahon's buyout. Thus, basketball fans are going to be forced to endure a lame duck season next year before the inevitable firing.
The move would only "save" about $2.7M in funds LSU would have to pay McMahon for not coaching. That is LSU is going to have to pay McMahon the money next year regardless of what happens. The only question is would they be willing to pay two HCs next year. McMahon and the new HC. However, the admin is likely failing to look at the opportunity costs. Apathy has set in to the program and that is not changing. A coaching move now would inject some life into the program (particularly if one coach, who will remain nameless, is hired) that would likely offset the sunk cost of the $2.7M LSU would "save" by not firing McMahon.

No, we just need more screens on the wing and that will solve our problems.
Or maybe more horns sets where the roller is ignored, or where the ball handler turns it over before a lazy pin down screen can materialize. Or even better, a traditional horns sets where neither screener can shoot the 3 and only 1 can drive with even a marginal level of success.

But the rant said he was a great fundamentals coach! Way better than WW.
frick screw winning. I like fundamentals.
But seriously besides the obvious sarcasm, Ive been saying MM’s teams are sloppy and inconsistent. Very hard to watch. They can look like a good team one game, then complete trash for 3, then play good for once, then trash again.
His players quit on him there is no doubt. Why wouldnt they. His rotations are random as frick and trash. I swear he hates bigs too. Our bigs play well and get benched.
In year one we beat Arky who went to dance and played well. We then lost every single sec game afterwards.
