Located near a large, major university, what could possibly go wrong?

I went to lakes to test some new lure action in late 80s before going on bass fishing trip. Didn’t really expect to catch anything just wanted to see action. i caught five bass all in 2-4 pound range in an hour. it was unreal

These lakes have left such fond memories for me. When I first arrived on campus in 1969, I couldn't believe what a great campus, due in large part to the nearness to these lakes. I got around on a bicycle the entire time (5 years) at LSU. I held a part time job at the Pak'a Sac near the Provost Volvo dealership overlooking one of the lakes. (I believe the dealership is gone.) When I got married as a grad student, my wife and I spent much time walking/cycling the area because we simply couldn't afford other kinds of recreation.
If I could contribute a little bit to the beautification of the lakes, I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

They need to make the lakes at least 6 feet deep or the vegetation growth will be bad. Needs to be deep enough to keep a lot of sunlight from reaching the bottom.

hope this happens, and when it does, people will be proud enough of it to take care of it and NOT turn it into a trash dump !
This is La, wishful thinking UNLESS there's dedicated clean-up regularly.
Nobody litters & shits where they live better than Louisianians.

Multiple 10 plus pound bass have been caught in the LSU lakes. I beleive at one point it held the Louisiana record
ETA: it did used to hold the state record at 15.38 pounds. Guy caught it in 1992.

Looks incredible and long over due. The lakes look like a sewer water dump these days when driving down I-10

Just like anything amazing and new in BR, it’ll become dark and ruined.

Let's hope not because it looks amazing.
That said, I can't help but worry that Broome and the clown show Metro Council fill frick this thing up somehow.

I remember having to walk through University Lake when I was a pledge. Good times

It will be nice for about a year or so until the powers that be stop taking care of it and the culture takes over.
Just how I see it playing out unless LSU owns it and takes care of it like they do campus.
