if it ends up anywhere near as nice as it is in the renderings, it's an area I'll get alot of use out of. My wife always likes waking up early on the weekend and walking the lakes. We don't do it much, but if it looked that nice, it would definitely be something I'd want to do more.

I drove through there a few weeks ago and there was more algae on top of the water than I’ve ever seen in my life

The walking path between S Lakeshore to E Lakeshore is much needed.

Yes.. and carp… . sunfish etc

I walk the lakes a lot and some students fish it.. especially in summer..locals fish crest lake every day..

Places where water flows into the lakes attract a lot of bluegill .. you will see schools of them… during spawning season the fish will be pushing the females up against the bank and in general splashing about…

Am I reading this right. The deepest depth on a lake will be a little over 4 feet. Kinda shallow, don’t you think?

I thought that was showing current depth. Pretty sure you can walk across all of them. One of my cousins sunk an old sailboat in there and he walked to shore from it.

Currently the average depth of the lakes is 3.5 ft with many areas being much shallower.

Here’s the preliminary data/conceptual plan provided by Stantec. Their design assumes that the required minimum depth at the center of the lakes will be 6 ft with the exception of City Park Lake which will be 9 ft.

The lakes flow into Bayou Duplantier which flows into Dawson Creek which flows into Ward Creek, Bayou Manchac, etc.

Deepening the lakes will increase the capacity of the lakes which will help with flooding but okay.

That water had nothing to do with the 2016 flood. The flood happened because all the bayous and creeks that flow into the Amite River backflowed.
