I agree with this. I’m not convinced Woodward has Vitello in his Top 2-3. But if he does, and offers $1.8-2.5, Vitello absolutely will accept. He won’t pass up a college baseball destination job to stay at Tennessee. The first time he gets an offer from LSU or Arky or Texas, he’s gone.

A poster there shared he heard O'Connor a while back.
I could be wrong, but I just prefer anyone else in Omaha over him. If for nothing else, I just really like to see LSU go a completely different direction from any coach with former LSU/coaching ties. I would assume it means PM put in a requests for him and they agreed.
Really hoping it's one of the others.

I’m kind of with you… would prefer some of the other candidates over O’Connor
If Corbin/Vitello are grand slam hires, O’Connor feels like a double
I think O’Connor is kind of like O’Sullivan…impossible to argue against his resume, but just doesn’t feel like the right choice for LSU

His reputation for handling hitters and pitchers is less than ideal. Also the last 3 seasons including this one are not good.

Project has more the details, but there are scouts who advise kids to stay away from oconnors teams because of how they handle pitchers and the what they do to change the approach of the hitters.
Personally, id prefer someone who can get our hitters to take a more patient approach than oconnor instills.
