Maybe they don't really have a 5th guy and Jay mispoke. None of us really know what is going on. As fans we just love to over analyze everything.

Jared Jones and Brady Neal the only players with more than one extra base hit so far

I agree with that. You say move Brown to CF, but Brown, Milam, or Frey haven't proven they can hit SEC pitching the same way you are saying Kling couldn't. So at this point it is all up in the air. I do know that Kling has all the potential in the world offensively and defensively so he will get every opportunity to succeed.

Milazzo leading the tigers in batting average

That may be true, but at some point he's going to have to show it offensively. Everything else is there. Hope he's not putting pressure on himself to be DC because that's nearly impossible, and that's not a knock against him

I have a friend that played HS baseball with him and said he was honestly just an average hitter at that level. FWIW

Your second cousin doesn’t count as a scout

Love Travinski's start to the season.

Mets scout based out of Houston. Toronto was right behind us and he had similar feelings. They were mostly there for the pitching. Holman and hoping to get another glimpse at Jump. He was very impressed by Fidel.

Well, I hope Kling proves them both wrong.

I don’t think he can be the 5th guy (4 playing and 1 sitting each game). This is only 3 positions - CF, RF, 2nd base. Need another position. Unless the thought is rotating 5 guys in 3 positions but that’s not the way I understood it. There has to be another position Jay has in mind. We’ve played 4 games so I guess we will know by who sits the next game. Only one that makes sense to me is Braswell and slide Milam over to short.
Edit: I misread the post I quoted. I also agree that if it is indeed 5 that Braswell has to be the 5th.
Guys, yall are WAY over thinking this. Milam is one of the 5 that is rotating. He sat out the first game and then played in the next 3.
Now this doesn't mean that he can't play his way out of the rotation and earn a permanent spot. I just don't think Jay is going to make that decision after the first weekend. I think he is going to give them all several weeks to rotate and then narrow it down to start SEC Play.
Not to mention nothing is final with Jay. Beloso, Milazzo, and Travinski all played sparingly early in the year last year but played alot down the stretch and Jones and Kling played alot early but eventually got beat out. Making definitive statements on who should be the everyday guy after 4 games in nonsensical.

Kling reminds me a lot of Jake Slaughter. You can clearly see the athleticism, tools, and potential; it just hasn't translated into much production to this point.

Poor comparison, Kling doesn't slide cleats up at guys trying to turn a double play.
I kid, I kid.

Voted the 2022 Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year … posted a .566 batting average in 2022 with five home runs and 33 RBI as he led Central High School to a 27-0 record and the state title
This is from lsusports.net bio. Your friend sounds a bit salty and jealous of Kling if he told you that.
My hope is that he is just going to take time to continue to develop and get used to the game at this level. Pennsylvania baseball is not the strongest, so hitting was going to take a little bit to adjust and he still is.

When I listened to what Jay said I didn’t get the same take away as the guy that started the thread about a 5 man rotation.
But maybe I have to listen again.

Same. I remember him saying something along the lines of he has 12 guys he wants to continue to rotate through and he brought the guys he plans to rotate in his office and explained to them the plan. Don't know where the 5 guys came from.

I know we have NIU and Stony Brook coming in this weekend, but weirdly they aren't playing each other.
We also have Northwestern State coming in and getting 4 games this weekend against NIU and Stony Brook, but not playing LSU.
One of the weirder setups for a weekend I've seen.

Yeah I remember when I played HS ball we all hit 500.
It may have been the competition he was playing or some guys just dominate high school ball and take a step back when they move up.
Baseball is such a mental sport and going from dominating to struggling is tough to handle. I hope he makes it
