re: LSU hasn’t lost to a PAC-12 school since 1979

I guess Colorado in 1980 is counted here even though they were in the Big 8 at the time?
Oregon State in ‘81 and ‘82
Washington in ‘83
Arizona and USC in ‘84
That would be your pre-1987 PAC-12 wins.

And we really didn’t lose to USC. Refs blew it and we beat them every way but final score.
So what you’re saying is...

And we were hosed in 1979.

That 1980 Colorado game was the last game I attended in BR before my family moved to VB,VA.
I remember we were up COMFORTABLY most of the game, 20-6 I think. The buffs made a comeback and tied it late at 20-20. LSU pinned them deep late in the game, and Colorado tried a pass over the middle. It was picked by our LB #55, then we kicked a fg at the end to win.
I've been to close to 50 college and NFL games, and have never heard a crowd as loud after that interception.

I was at that game. LSU should have won in what was the loudest I’ve ever heard TS. That particular USC team was the most talented that I’ve ever seen play against LSU in Tiger Stadium to this day.

Pretty sure this was Ronnie Lott's quote " tiger stadium made notre dame look like romper room".
Don't remember if it was coach mckay or one of the players
" there were 10,000 eyes on us when we got off the bus. That was on friday".

1979 USC game was the greatest. Unbelievable atmosphere.

Tiger Stadium was off the fricking chain that night.

It's probably the only time in my life I was intimidated by the crowd." - Former ALl American and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Ronnie Lott, on LSU's game against USC in 1979 at Tiger Stadium He also had these comments regarding the 1979 USC vs. LSU game in Tiger Stadium: "A lot of great players have played in that stadium, but I don't know if any team has walked into that stadium and dealt with what we went through. From the time we landed to the time we left, I don't know if a team has ever gone through that." "I haven't been in an event like that at any level of football. Out of all the games I've ever played in, I've never been in anything like that, and I am including my Super Bowls in that assessment."

Yes and that was against arguably the best college football team of all time,
——maybe as of 1979 but not compared to later years. Especially 2019

LSU returned the favor and drubbed the Trojans in the LA Mausoleum 23-3 .

15 years old sitting in south end zone. The whole day seemed like a dream. It was eerie... atmosphere outside of the stadium before game was electric. It was just different... hard to explain. Everyone knew So Cal was number 1 and LSU was coming off blowout wins against Colorado and Rice so everyone was anxious to see how good Tigers really were. It seemed like everybody was low key nervous before game. I remember sitting in my seat before game during pregame waiting for teams to come out for warmups. Charles White came out onto the field and did a jog all the way around the field flanked by his to All American tackles Munoz and Budde and I thought Aw shite... it’s on! LSU came out hitting from the start and the fans fed off of the team’s energy facing Goliath. All that penned up nervousness before the game came out in thunderous fashion for four quarters all the way to the final whistle. Walking down the ramps after that game was surreal. It was like everybody was numb from what they had just witnessed. Never felt that feeling after watching any other game after that. Glad I was there.

I was 11. It was truly deafening.

I missed this thread from a few days ago when I was out of town, so apologies to those to whom it's old news. But the electricity in the stands (I was in student section) at the '79 USC game was unlike any sporting event I have ever been to. Don't think my date and I exchanged three words the whole game. I wouldn't have heard her anyway. Absolutely deafening. No event has come close to it from start-to-finish since. That game should be shown to every LSU player, because Tigers' intensity was insane and fueled the crowd. Never have I been more proud of the Fighting Tigers. What a beautiful experience (except for the facemask flag).
