Financial penalties are imposed for violations in all sports sponsored by the Conference. Institutional penalties range from $100,000 for a first offense, $250,000 for a second offense and $500,000 for a third and subsequent offenses.

For Conference contests, fines are paid to the opposing institution. For non-conference contests, fines levied against schools for violation of the access to competition area policy are deposited into the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.

Again?

That's like 400k in 24 hours.

Woody has Wade's checkbook, so we're cool.

Is it only football that the money goes to an SEC General Scholarship Fund?

You sure? I thought the part about paying it to the opponent was proposed but didn't pass.

I could certainly be wrong though.

So, MooSt can clang the shite out of those cowbells but fans come on a basketball court and that's a fine.
Typical stupid SEC crap.

I mean it might be a dumb rule but its been the rule as long as I can remember that if you rush the field/court the school gets fined

Nobody gives a shite because the fine is basically nothing but that's the rule

With the crazy amounts of SEC sports money, $100K is nothing. The only reason they introduced the "pay the opposing team money" clause was a potential deterrent, like "I don't want to give our hated rival/big opponent money". But after a huge win, do you really think people will care about that in the moment? "Let's enjoy this, have your money, we still beat you!"
