It's no deterrent and it's stupid how the school has to pay for something they can't really control.

It makes you wonder how those that make rules like that get into a position of power at all.

Has any coach or player been injured (much less seriously) by fans rushing the court/field?

Clemson allows fans on the field after every game. They've even designed their goalposts to come down to prevent injury to fans trying to tear them down. Doesn't seem to bother anything.

JMHO.
