re: LSU Gameday - Hypocrisy and Cultural Rot

That's the thing. The music is always mixed, and good, and we aren't going back to hearing just the band. These guys like to complain. LOL
Just gotta keep it more balanced. That's my challenge, keep it balanced to allow everyone to enjoy it.
OAN, tailgating culture, liquor sales inside of the stadium, and the traffic issues...I've had no problem with any of them, but maybe it's time to look at the whole day, and see what can be changed.
I read a comment up a few that said the atmosphere changed during the Southern game, and he's upset about the challengers and chargers...well, the lifted trucks play music just as loud. As the DJs at the parade grounds are just as vulgar. It's everyone.
Also, the union closed because of the mobs that used to take place inside. Unsupervised private school kids used to run amuck, and mess up the bathrooms, and do cocaine.
I'm saying that to say, if we have a bad game day experience, it's because it's been decades in the making, and not something that has just spawned overnight. Fights happen every game, because someone has had too many. On every part of campus. Take away that fight, everything in this "enchanted forest" was said to be cordial and fun. Police presence was brought in to disperse because it was time to leave, not because of anything illegal happening.

I hate to hear all of this about LSU. If you would like to become a Rebel fan, we don’t have any of these problems in the Grove or the Vaught. I still can’t believe Kiffin left the Oxford utopia for what all of you are describing, but I honestly feel that we are in a better long term position without him.
Umm What?
You frickers ran out of water and ice in the 4th quarter.
The only thing better was post game traffic

OP, send your post & link to the Governor. He WILL do something about it - I guarantee you he will jump on it.
ETA: I just sent the OP to the Governor's office. I strongly encourage others to do so as well - today.

I usually make it to one game a year these days.
Last year, I was disgusted with what I saw. Besides the fact that LSU has eliminated nearly all free parking near the levee lots, the real fans are gone. Nothing but people looking for an opportunity to dress up and take pics for social media. It’s one big party, game be damned.

I mean you're saying something without saying it. You refuse to name the crowd you have a problem with because you know what's going to happen if you do. Everyone sees it. But no one wants to talk about it because you will be attacked for even daring to notice it. So, if you're going to dance around the problem and not speak on it directly. Why even bring it up.....It's a pointless effort. It's where we are as a society.
As far as your Rant #1 goes. If LSU had to rely on just Students and the Alumni element coming to the games. LSU would not make the money that they do on game day just relying on students and alumni to come. Hell the students clear out by the 4th every game to go drink and party.... I'm sorry if you think that it could make the same money. But it couldn't because a large majority of the people there aren't students or alumni. I go to every home game. I'm not alumni. But my daughter does attend the school, and I spend enough money at LSU that I think I should be able to attend a football game without a pretentious alumni side eyeing me because I didn't attend the school. You can GFY on that rant.
I don't like dope heads. But let's be real here. You're ok with people drinking like sailors but not ok with people smoking weed? That makes YOU a hypocrite. Alcohol is probably WORSE than weed. It just doesn't stink. A stupid belligerent alcoholic is WORSE than someone smoking on a stinky vape pen. I'll die on that hill.
Rap music is abhorrent. But it's what young people listen to. Including the football players. This is just a clash of generations. Is all it is.....
Those football players don't want to hear the music you want to listen to. I'm sorry man. Whether you like it or not. "Louisiana Culture" as you remember it is dead. The Cajun theme is dead. African American culture is what defines Louisiana now.
It really sounds like it's time for you to just give up your season tickets and hang it up. Because it's only going to get worse from here on out. The Rap Culture thing isn't just a fad. It's here to stay and is just going to intensify as time goes on.

LSU accomplished their goal to drive away true fans from continuing the gameday tailgating tradition and now it has a major problem on it’s hands.
Exactly this. We grew up tailgating in the levee lots. I was pretty upset to see the tree line is now gone and it’s all paid parking. That spot used to be filled with families tailgating and watching the game. Hell, the after game tailgate waiting for traffic to die down was some of my best memories.

It's not just LSU. The entire country has a major problem on it's hands. Pretty much every city that's 75k plus population is seeing this problem.

The stuff happening in Europe is heading our way. Guess what "element" here is going to align with them??? It will be their chance to take down America as we know it. Football, Game Day, tailgating won't be our top problem anymore.

100 percent agreed! But more than likely nothing will be done. Eventually it will be no more tailgating because of the mess I saw Saturday. Never that LSU would let this get this bad.

My parking pass is in Pleasant Hall, and we passed all of the ruckus close to the Amphitheater on the walk back after the game. I thought I was in the hood for a minute.
Not surprised at all that something broke out.
I did see heavy police presence in the area, so they knew something was going to happen! I don't understand why they just don't put a stop to it.

The area north of campus has been bad for decades. Its a big campus with a partying reputation. There’s going to be a lot of rowdy behavior. The Greek Theater always smelled like weed 50 years ago, so its not like weed on campus is a new thing.

Because according to the liberals nothing to see here. Move along. Nothing will be done .

There are likely things we would disagree upon, but this is a thoughtful post and I agree with some of it.

I think you are missing the point. It's not that one sensory altering vice is better or worse than the other. The suggestion is that there is a correlation between the groups causing the trouble being discussed and weed smoking. I think we would all agree, LSU has had a LONG history of fans drinking before/during games. Many of whom becoming belligerent, which certainly led to incidents. Fights IN the stadium during the games used to be commonplace 30-40 years ago. But those were more isolated events as opposed to the larger group issues that appear to have become more prevalent in the last few years, including shootings (even if no one has been murdered...yet).

We need to be very careful to separate race from anti-establishment culture.
Lots of people in both communities are trying to have fun and contribute positively to the game day experience. The Anti-establishment culture just wants to take from the givers, or destroy what is built.
Sadly, gameday shouldn't be an open-campus anymore. Prop up the barricades. Too many people there looking to take. Everyone on campus either needs a tailgating pass hanging visibly from a lanyard, or a game ticket.

Absolutely incorrect. LSU’s northern border is where this stems from. We are not surrounded, not even close. South and east of campus is still some of the nicest areas you’ll ever see.
