The only problem is that then you have to go full Augusto Pinochet Ugarte to deal with the backlash. The numbers of people in this country opposed to that is too great. It would be a disaster. There are more people in this country that are aligned with the French "student protestors (yeah right)" than you realize. It's actually scary. They're a significant force.

I appreciate and respect your view. Sadly, you'll know this if you're a boomer also, you'll remember the days when we were a different society. Those are the real rights we lost, we took them for granted. We could go to a late night movie, we could walk on any street after dark, if you dropped your wallet someplace, it was more than likely it would be returned to you with nothing missing.
That's just human decency, I think. I am also old enough to remember other things that helped to fuel some of the things that started the spiral. We didn't get here overnight. We won't get back there overnight, if we even can. To get there, both sides need to acknowledge wrongs done and then just put it behind us. Start from now. Unfortunately, there is too much power in separation for that to really happen.
I had hope for the future when I was younger; now I fear for my children, sometimes.

Even if we may not agree totally, we probably agree on much, maybe most, regarding this situation. I appreciate the civil conversation despite our disagreements.

this is absolutely the truth, and LSU better get a handle on this soon, or there are going to be black brawls all over campus and the nation is going to get a front row seat to watch our school completely destroy it reputation.
IF things don't change, my granddaughter will not be going to LSU and she will be the first in my family to not go to LSU.
It is truly embarrassing what LSU has become.
Somebody stop it!

Turning into the most ghetto tailgating experience in the SEC and not even close.
BR needs the national guard permanently

I agree with most of what you wrote. However, with regards to the marijuana use, I believe they really are getting better with that. I haven't seen or smelled it once yet this season. I also tailgate in a different area. But in years past it had become more and more prevalent until this season.
I did notice a young black man vaping in the stadium on Saturday (lower east side). I have not seen that before and I thought it was not allowed. He wasn't close enough for me to be bothered but the huge clouds of smoke/vape were very noticeable. If he were next to me I think I would have been bothered. Is that allowed now or was he breaking the rules?
Also, I saw Will Wade at the game but I didn't get a chance to talk to him. I know, CSB.
Eta: this thread needs to be bumped every day for the rest of the season so that hopefully the administration gets the message that we are fed up.

A lot of college campuses are surrounded by ghettos.

Sorry, but I had to stop reading here.

The LSU gameday experience is in trouble. Multiple reasons. What I witnessed yesterday and to be honest for last couple years is troubling to me.
Let me try this again....... I don't want to get banned today.
First LSU game 1973 Tulane LSU. First game in TS in 1977. Student mid 80s...
Wifey and I season ticket holders 1993 through 2019. The change started after 2007 Natty and kept getting worse every year.
We tailgated on parade ground 1998 - 2008. 2009 parade ground had changed and we basically just started hitting friends tailgates.
After 2011 it accelerated. 2018 Hoco wifey and i gave tickets away and walked around campus with one of our bird dawgs pretty much all day hitting houses that mattered to us and many tailgates of friends it was a great day - but it had noticeably changed. On our way out we ran into an old hs classmate of mine who her and hubby were both also LSU folks(he a federal agent). We talked that we had quit doing our own tailgate but really the environment was rolling downhill.... They were also shutting it down after 2 plus decades....
what wifey and experienced on our walk back to our vehicle was mind boggling... twerking vulgar rap music so much weed we reeked when we got to vehicle....
She looked at me and said I am glad we gave our tickets away, I am never coming again....
I went to 3 games in 2019 and each game was worse... So I said goodbye to a dear old friend........ Haven't been back, really miss what it was, don't miss what it has become... Like all things hood it will end up being a tragedy one day.

Solution: close campus to everyone but ticket-holders and those working the game. Everyone else, keep out.
Sounds easy, almost impossible to enforce
Posted on 10/19/26 at 12:36 pm to Gulf Coast Tiger
Oh, it's enforceable. But Baton Rouge is a Democrat ran city and they WILL NOT tolerate the type of policing that it would take to enforce this. Honestly, heads are probably going to roll for the pepper ball incident this weekend. I bet you money someone is getting their hand slapped for that show of force. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.
These cities vote themselves into these dilemmas.

It’s impossible to enforce
The logistics alone make it impossible

This happened right behind me. It apparently was reported because a sheriff's deputy showed up at the portal and found the culprits. Helpful folks around the spot alerted him to where the drugs were stashed (in the drink cup).

Here's the real issue.... Do you, and i'll ask the other two counterarguers in the thread the same, do you consider the violence, open drug use, and lawlessness "Black Culture"???

The consequences become the deterrent.

They need to crack down on the vaping/smoking. People are even sneaking vapes into the stadium now. They cracked down late last season and that seemed to work.
I was at Busch Stadium a few years ago for a Cards game and I was sitting in the middle of a fairly long row. Had a Cope in...NOT spitting on the concrete like some redneck (using a cup), having a great time with those around me just watching the game and talking baseball. Marshall comes over and motions me to come out to the aisle. Tells me to dump it and says if he sees me again doing it, I have to leave. For a dip.
There is zero reason LSU cannot police vaping in the stadium which is glaringly obvious. At the Aggie game, I saw (and smelled) four people flat out smoking near the NEZ bathrooms.

The term "civil rights" is itself like "racism", abused until it means virtually the opposite of what it was intended to mean. Is it a "civil right" to turn public gatherings into brawls? Is it a "civil right" to knock down an elderly person
You’re just making stuff up. Who is suggesting this? Rights in instances like this begin where one ends anyway.

This fricking guy.
Honest question why is it that only blacks feel the need to make excuses for other blacks bad behavior whereas white people don’t do that….. if you’re a trailer park trash POS meth head you suck just as bad as any ghetto thug.
See we don’t feel the need to make excuses for people simply because they look like us.
Your schtick on this board has been the same since you’ve been here.
Do you not feel the least bit dumb for making excuses for these people who do nothing but bring things down and everything they touch turns into garbage … free advice…have some self-respect dude, just try it for once.
Be better, expect better.

So, you're basically admitting and conceding the argument.
Just to be clear, you're saying that African Americans and crime are synonymous? That's wild dude........
You do realize that it is possible for good, non-criminal African American folks to be able to enjoy something too, right? They don't like that shite either.
This isn't a race issue. It's a crime issue. Who gives a shite what race the people committing the crimes are. Arrest them and let's see what that looks like on the other side of the aftermath. Just don't get your feelings hurt when you look at the stats. The problem is when people look at the stats. They can't stomach it. They move the goalpost and say that those stats show racism in policing. Then they scale back the policing and become soft handed to pad the numbers. Then you get what you get. Criminals of all colors running the asylum.
The truth isn't racist.

first issue i heard was last year with all the dope smoking and ghetto infestation and the thug that shot himself.
i would get roving police patrols and bust all these clowns. and if needed setup military type checkpoints at north gates. you need political strength to pull that off tho. yeah yeah i know
