It will be interesting to see what next year's offense looks like without Daniels. Removing 1,000 yards of scramble offense will make things more challenging on Denbrock. Less running lanes for the running backs and more DB's in coverage, if we go with Nuss.

Last year the offense was inconsistent and lacked much variety and creativity in the play design/play calling. This year was largely the same offensive approach in terms of play design/play calling. You just had a QB and WRs, along with an improved OL, who executed at a ridiculously high level. I think where you saw some of the average play design show up was in the redzone where, at times, LSU struggled to easily get into the endzone.

Like you said, next year we will see if Denbrock can adapt to a new QB with a different skill-set. LSU is probably not going to be able to run as many long developing routes with the comfort of knowing that if the play doesn't work as designed the QB can just run for 40 yards. The one thing that does give you a bit of confidence though is that, at times, in games last season where Nuss was forced to play he would come in and the passing game immediately felt like it had more "juice" (Most notably the SECCG).

Curious to see how we treat the Joe Sloan situation. He is another Coach we don't want to lose.

Denbrock called completely different passing concepts when Daniels played vs when Nuss played last year. This year he opened it up more for Daniels once he proved he was willing to hit guys in stride. I think that's a sign of a good OC.

I do agree that the short yardage situations need some work. We run the same option play that we ran for the 2 pt conversion vs Bama all the time and we struggled to get push on short yardage running plays

Bowl game bs Purdue was a great example. When Nuss was in the running backs generally found more success and Nuss would throw any route.

I fully expect growing pains where Nuss forces the ball, etc.

Sloan didn't recruit his butt off for somebody else to get to coach Bryce Underwood.

I guess we wait another two weeks now that he starts evaluating the defense

I would be stunned if BK doesn’t already know who’s coaching defense. If it’s House, I am positive that he has a good reason for it and knows more than I do. As much as it bothers LSU fans how good our offense was and how bad our defense was and cost us 3 games, think how BK feels. Year 3 he has an all time good offense held back by the worst defense ever at a school where a juggernaught defense historically has seemed easy to put together.

Denbrock, a Broyles Award finalist, led the top-ranked offense in the country this season and helped develop QB Jayden Daniels, a Heisman finalist.

Don't get me wrong. Our offense was lights out this year. However, is it possible this is a bit too early on an extension?

Pirate queen also threw a bitch fit last year when Kelly opted to keep Daniels at the expense of Walker Howard

Texas A&M pursued LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock for the same position before pivoting to Kansas State's Collin Klein, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday. Multiple outlets reported early Wednesday that LSU is finalizing a 3-year extension for Denbrock. The Broyles Award finalist signed a 3-year contract worth $1.5 million annually upon joining Brian Kelly's staff ahead of the 2022 season. Financial terms have yet to be released.

Yall have short term memories. There were open WRs all over the field last year and Jayden wouldn’t or couldn’t pull the trigger. It took time for him to realize he is playing with a different level of athlete at LSU than ASU.

I have confidence we’ll have enough talent at skill pos and OL to make a plenty effective enough offense under Denbrock

Sounds like Denbrock's agent leveraged LSU's constant battle with Texas A&M for a nice pay increase. I suspect every agent is coming to Woodward now saying "Hey, you know Texas A&M called my guy, so....?" Hell, even the kid who dresses up like Mike the Tiger is saying "Hey, A&M reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in dressing up like a fruity milk-man, so....a new mo-ped to get around campus might be nice."

I doubt it. But the AGENTS know LSU and A&M are in a constant pissing match (at least right now), so why not try to leverage each school for better deals for your client?

Could also be that A&M is turning over almost their entire staff, needs a new OC, and Denbrock is one of the best right now. Why not try? If anything, Denbrock earned his extension regardless of anyone else calling.
