And this comes out after we finally get a win. So unserious.
Normally this vote of confidence would come at the end of the season but they know we're gonna get our backs blown out in the last 5 games.
They also made tomorrow's game a pretty big referendum on McMahon by saying LSU and S. Carolina have the "cheapest" rosters. What does it say if he loses a home game to them?

Drake doesn't even have a freshman in their rotation. If you strictly want to reload by transfer and not recruit ever then that may be the way to go but this year LSU has 4 freshmen and a Jr that hadn't hardly played until this year and a So getting major minutes. No other SEC team even comes close. Now you can blame Mcmahon for that but that is what we have been playing with.
In year 1 he has a 5th year Senior, a 4th year player, three 3rd year players, and a true freshman getting most of the minutes....and he goes 14-19 (2-16); The next year he has four 5th year seniors, a 4th year senior, 2 sophomores, and 1 true freshman play...and they balloon to 17-16 (9-9). This season his top minute getters are 3 Seniors, a 4th year player in Collins (who evidently needed more than 64 prior appearances to understand how to dribble a basketball by your logic), a RS freshman who he, inexplicably, chose to redshirt last year, and some true freshman (one being one of the best scorers on the team, V. Miller, who was lost due to a phantom ankle injury no one actually saw occur) and he can't win.
He can't win with "old" player. He can't win with "young" players. He has enough NIL money to sign multiple OOS top 100 HS recruits, but evidently not enough to sign transfers not from the state of Louisiana. He's going to "build through HS recruiting", yet will likely only return 2-3 players next year from his first two signing classes and HOPE his four freshman this season all return. Next year he's going to get donors to mail over piles of money despite the fact they (apparently) haven't over the course of the past 3 years.
At this point you have to ask, does McMahon have more excuses why he's not winning than actual SEC wins?

Woodward has tied his future to McMahons IMO.
It's debatable whether they even consider it the #2 sport at LSU. The AD isn't getting fired for tanking the basketball program.

Woodward has tied his future to McMahons IMO. If the basketball program is crap once again next year LSU needs to move on from Woodward as AD. There is no excuse for not firing MM after this pathetic season.

You people are reactionary children. Our football team is stacked going into next year, our baseball program is ELITE, Mulkey is doing great, gymnastics is doing great, etc. Not to mention the new arena being built. He's made really strong hires everywhere else.
Yes I now think we should move on from McMahon, but Scott Woodward was given a shite sandwich in basketball. He made what we thought was a good hire, but it hasn't turned out that way. It's mid-season and he's giving the coach a public vote of confidence. Who knows what he's said behind closed doors.
His future is not tied to McMahon. That is dumb.

so take the buyout money and spend it on players. i don't think mcmahon is the guy, but i get it.
I got bashed for saying this is what you are going to see in college sports

This really isn't bad news,
If McMahon can field a competent team next year with some money great, but if an investment is being made he needs to turn results.

$1.3 for 2023 might be the right number. I did a little rounding

Got no issues with he 1.5 vs 1.3 I'll tell you what I expect for the reports on the 2025 fiscal year. The numbers will increase because they went 9-9 in SEC play in the 2024 Basketball season. A big part of those numbers always relates to expectations based on the previous year. It is a lagging indicator and will be down next year because of the poor performance this year unless we get a McMiracle.
McMiracles that could generate some hope.
1. The team wins enough games to garnish an NIT invitation with a deep run,
2. The team wins out and wins a couple of SECT games resulting in an NCAAT invite with at least 1 win,
3. The team wins the SEC tournament and a few tournament games.
Any of those might generate more ticket sales and movement around the program by fans. None of those seem likely.

He better have a clear message that it’s tournament or bust next year

Which clearly illustrates the article is completely fabricated bullshite.
First, there is no way actually knowing what teams spend on NIL. It's ALL based upon conjecture and hearsay. There are no "employment" contracts. Second, it's convenient that South Carolina also as a "low NIL" budget. They went 28-8 (13-5) last season en route to a 6th seed in the NCAA Tournament. So are we to believe their donors loaded up the truck with NIL money last year. Then, after getting a good ROI, decided to say "frick it. We aren't donating again this year. The bird flu wiped out too many chickens and the cost of Bojangles went up this year"?
I gave guys like Moscona, Dixon, etc the benefit of the doubt. But this is laughably pathetic propaganda clearly being fed by the athletic department in an attempt to deflect blame for the abject disaster that has been LSU basketball. It's not coincidental that in the ONE sport LSU didn't have the significant market presence it has in other sports (like Football and baseball) or has a HOF HC from Louisiana with a son who attended LSU out in the marketplace Woodward has completely blown the hire.
I never thought I'd say this, but I actually respect Alleva more than Woodward. Alleva was lazy, but at least he showed up to the games and took the criticism (the reception towards him was BRUTAL at the Vanderbilt game in 2019). Woodward can't even be bothered to attend the LSU basketball mess he created.

Here is my order of preference:
1) Fire MM and bring Wade back
2) Keep MM with an increased NIL budget
3) Fire MM and bring in someone other than Wade
Is this reasonable?

I hope South Carolina wins tomorrow. I want to see this athletic department embarrassed.

He has had good recruiting classes but they make tons of mistakes every single game. I don’t see money helping him out. He’s a bad coach. SW needs to admit he made a mistake and cut him loose.
His whole offense is based on a high ball screen. The screen is always poorly executed and the roll is never open off the screen anyway. There is no attention to detail on his teams which is a hallmark of poor coaching.
