With the new emphasis on discipline in the S&C program and the addition of Frazier, Shorts, Jones and Campbell along with 3-4 vets I think the o line will be the quickest turn around and I can't wait to see it

If Shorts is truly open to playing any position on the line I think he’s your C and Wire starts at RT.

Our best options at Safety are going to be Jacoby Matthews and Sage Ryan.

Based on what? Stars?

How can you possibly say this when foucha is a 3 year proven SEC starting safety

I think it’ll be foucha and burns to start the season

We’ve lost 4 offensive line starters but I think it will be improved. Addition by subtraction!

I wouldn't be surprised if sage gets more of a shot at free safety.

Actually looks much better than I thought. Harris and Fonua still have eligibility??

Only place that looks weak is the tight end position. I know Kelly likes to use them well he needs to get some. We are thin at the cornerback position also

I really do not believe that Jay Ward is going to be moving back to Corner. Safety was a more natural position for him.

Thank you for putting this together for us. Nice visual.

Based on the depth chart, here is what I think we need with 8 spots left to fill -

+ DB - J. Mathews
+ TE - D Lewis
+ RB - Citizen (but with the addition of Cain, I think it's ok if we miss here)

+ I think we need 1 more interior defensive lineman
+ A Center from the Transfer Portal would be nice
+ LB
+ WR

And --- we need 1 more QB. Yes. We do. There are 3 on the roster and I'd bet we may lose 1 of the 3 sometime between April and August, leaving us with 2.

I’m impressed with what this staff has done to fill the gaps.

Hard not to imagine how much better this looks if Flott, McGlothern, or Ricks had returned. If any two had returned, I would be loving the outlook.

Oh well, spilled milk. Still very impressive when you think about where we were after the bowl game. Kudos to CBK and staff.

I feel a lot better about our depth with all the transfers we picked up. However, we're still needing a playmaker at Safety, Edge, TE, and LB. I know there's still some recruits we're working on that could really make this a top 10 contender. Looking at you Jacoby Mathews.

Man, Todd Harris still has eligibility left?

Edge? We have both Ojulari and Gaye returning.

Safety may have it with both Ryan and Burns. I doubt we have a TE that’ll scare people (Bech not a TE) and LB with Baskerville and Jones will probably be ok.

I never thought I would be asking this, but how many spots do we have left? Are we still under the probation, limiting us to 81 total?

Our total (we all believe) was 32 for this year. As I am typing this, we have signed 13 HS prospects and brought in 11 transfers.

We should have 8 more spots available.... and they can be any combination of HS or Transfers.

And to answer your other question, I'm pretty sure we're allowed 85 this year.

They might have to move him back just because of numbers but imo his natural position is nickel.

He doesn't hold up well against the run at safety. He takes bad angles. It's hard to just switch to safety and know where to be.

If a safety pops open lsu needs to go grab him. Corner is a bigger concern though.

The nickel is heavily involved in the run game. He is a good deep safety.

He struggled playing Wide Receivers in man, he is far better suited at safety than Corner.

Is K Thomas the biggest flop at LSU in recent years??

There is a difference playing the run game at nickel and playing the run game as a middle of the field safety.

You are only responsible for a very small part of the field.

I don't think he struggled playing receivers in nickel. It was when they had to move him outside.
