LSU Depth Chart (23 Aug 2024) [1 image]

I have done my best to update this Depth Chart based upon the numerous practice reports and videos from various sources.
Lack of Clarity:
These sources, however, are unanimously limited. They provide a clear picture of the 2-Deep, but beyond that things become nebulous. Various online Depth Chart reports are similarly worthless for clarifying the 3rd and 4th string rotation: they just list the extra guys together in paragraph format.
Defensive Tackle:
Particularly unclear is the situation at DT.
• NOBODY has commented on whether the LSU DTs will flip based upon the Field/Boundary placement of the ball (like everybody else on the defense) or remain at Left/Right like they did in the Spring Game.
• NOBODY has defined whether each player is lining up in a 1- or a 3-Technique (NT and DT respectively). We may assume that Jacobian Guillory is at NT (1-tech) and Gio Paez is at DT (3-tech: he transferred to LSU specifically to play in the B-gap), but the guys behind them have not been so defined.
• Jay'Viar Suggs's status in the lineup is particularly unclear. We only know that he is not rotating in with the ones, meaning that he is 3rd, 4th, or 5th in the pecking order. And we do not know in which gap he will play.
Wide Receiver:
The status of the WR lineup is almost as unclear as that of the DTs. But their spots are a little easier to define by watching practice videos (there is less crowding and obscurity on the perimeter than with the DTs in the trenches).
All that being said--and keeping in mind that this is merely one fan's attempt to reflect the observations of others--I hope this fan-made LSU Depth Chart is helpful, especially to those who are playing the new College Football 25 game.

The coaches probably don't have a clear cut 3 and 4 deep outside of obvious position groups where there aren't many bodies.

Looks good but I think Suggs is the first DT off the bench. You have him too low

I'm hoping to see some defensive packages with Perkins and Whit on the field at the same time.

But he has not been rotating with the ones, which seems to indicate that he is the 5th DT in the rotation at best.

I believe we will see that often, especially on 3rd downs. Both Perkins and Whit played Nickel-SAM last season, and that corresponds to the “Star” position this season, which can be manned by either a Safety (“Buffalo Nickel”), Nickel Corner, or a Nickel SAM.

According to Moscana Jalen Lee is the first off the bench and then its unclear who will be after that. Says Suggs, Shone, McKinley and Kimo are the next group but he is not sure the pecking order.

So Suggs is probably first off the bench and Lee is probably scout team.

Exactly. I haven’t seen Lee’s name mentioned much at all this camp but Suggs has flashed and won some 1v1s

JK is starting opposite Stamps. Other than that looks very good much appreciated. Looks like Sage is CB3 and maybe even CB4 if Zy can get back to 100%.

Does that mean Peyton Todd ended up winning the punter competition?

Guillory will be the nose with paez playing the 1 and 3 tech

Maybe you are not list players twice but last week Dellinger was at C with Adams at LG with the ones. Chester may have been ill or nicked but I believe this is OL IA.

On3 Matthew bruns’s practice reports have been saying jalen Lee will be in the 2 deep with paez, Guillory, and Suggs

Going to be an another long season if Sage is still a starting corner. He was horrible last year. Hard to believe none of the true corners on the team could not beat him out for cb2.

Yea our CB position is still a fricking disaster and it’s ridiculous that they did nothing in the portal to rectify it. They needed to go get 2 starting caliber SEC corners at minimum. Instead it will be an Achilles heel all year again.
