LSU defeats UCF 109-102 in TRIPLE-OT battle coming back from down 20. Tigers now 5-1

1st half:
Team has struggled to find scoring in this tournament.
Reed looks great physically, but he needs to turn the effort when the ball isn’t in his hands way up.
***
2nd half:
45 second half points.
Reed has been a different player since last timeout of the first half & is right there with Sears for POTG.
LSU had not led since 15:14 of first half.
UCF did not score in the last 2:40 of regulation.
OT1:
Chest fouls out with 6s remaining & UCF hits two FTs to tie. To OT2 we go.
OT2:
LSU and UCF trade four 3 pointers over 5 possessions. Sums it up, entertaining period.
OT3:
LSU playing good defense and getting good looks in the post
Teams continue to trade blows
Final:
Miller took over to clinch in last two possessions after Sears & Reed led the charge most of the way.
Great game from Chest as well, but LSU played the last two OTs without him (fouled out).
Verdict:
Second consecutive game with a long scoring drought, but the defense doesn’t falter. The effort was not all there early… When Reed hustles it makes a big difference.
Overall, an impressive comeback & gutsy win against a solid basketball team.

We had 2000+ MFRs here on Friday watching the oonly minutes of MBB they'll watch all season.
We don't even have a game thread on Sunday.

Same old story same old coach finish as a bottom feeder in the SEC

Reed looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane. In fact, there are quite a few Jane’s on this team from my observation.

Every single season with MM same story. Foundation foundation while we get mid major transfers that can’t play at this level and miss the tournament. Tired of seeing it

Can’t defend this, complete embarrassment

I think they could get better. This is the worst I’ve seem them play this year.
They look good enough walking onto the court in terms of size and athleticism, you just can’t have dudes missing bunnies left & right.

Poorly coached team

Damn I wanted to believe. I’m too exhausted with LSU football to start bitching about LSU basketball.

It’s a straight up motor issue. He isn’t overthinking it on defense, you can tell because he just hasn’t moved with purpose off the ball even on offense.
Out of the timeout he actually runs to get back on offense & then breaks the scoring drought.

I watched ~8 mins last year in a late October game. We looked good. We have our coach.

I am discounting this shitty ballroom tournament. High school gyms have better crowds that this.

Have to stress defense in the second half. If we get some stops we can make a run.

I was watching but walked out the room. Did Mac ever call a TO to address it or just let them bleed to death?

Luckily, the expectations for basketball aren't very high. The expectation is that they'll struggle throughout the season, and hopefully make it into the tourney. I never expected to feel like any games are easy wins early in the season.

It looked better out of the last timeout but should’ve been addressed much sooner.

Many of the tournaments are played in very small arenas. The Maui Invitational often has a great field of teams. It’s played in a 2,400 seat gym.
Discount the tournament all you want, but it counts and provides one of the few opportunities for LSU to notch a good win ahead of SEC play. Without those they will go into the SEC schedule with virtually no chance to make the NCAA Tournament unless the win 10+ game in conference. That will be tough
