After years of nickel and diming LSU fans, TAF/LSU AD are coming for the coffers of everyone again, this time in the middle of a pandemic.

Here’s an idea: cut some of the non-revenue sports or at the very least cut their budget.

Someone’s gotta pay for Pelini’s completely justified contract

How do you think we pay for top tier facilities and coaching salaries?

The pandemic and corresponding government action has created a meteor sized hole in the Athletic Department's budget

Well #1 there's only so much of that you can do in order to remain in compliance with Title IX and for the record LSU already has a pretty small Athletic Department compared to most other universities. I'm pretty sure the SEC requires a certain number of varsity sports be maintained as well.

The money doesn't just go into a Jerry Jones or a Dan Snyder's pocket like it does in the pros. LSU athletics is much more analogous to a Spanish/German soccer club or a large crowdfunded non profit. That some LSU fans of all people don't understand that is pretty sad.

They should ask BLM for a donation.

Yeah, let’s pay them more money so we can sign dinosaurs to huge contracts.

It’s a donation meaning it is voluntary. If you don’t want to or can’t donate for whatever reason then don’t. There is really no need to complain about it.

Now if they would have said you must “donate” X amount of dollars or you will lose your season tickets then that is a different story.

Take the scholarships of the defensive players and just put some random animals from the Vet school back there. Results will be the same.

Or tell the football coaching staff to go collect social security

I would have been nice to have some "savings" in the bank from all those years the AD gave the surplus to the school. While initially a noble gesture. Like everything else that is publicly funded, the university spent like the government agency it is, in part, because they just counted the expected surplus as part of their budget rather than an "gift".

LSU is very fortunate in that they are one of the few schools where the AD doesn't suck funds away from the academic side. Unfortunately, Alleva thought it was good practice to give the AD's money away. And for his part, while Woodward ended that practice, he appears to be set to pay WELL OVER market value for coaches (see Ed and Bo). Neither had/have a tremendous market outside of LSU. Yet, Woodward wants to pay them like Jerry Jones is beating down Ed's and Bo's door for the HC job.

If I had money to donate I would. Rant should sticky a donation thread for high volume of small donations from regular fans (as opposed to the usual suspects/boosters). Maybe we could make a dent.

Don't piss your donors off by forcing social justice on them. It's a pretty simple concept.
