Was he hurt or something? I thought he'd turn into a pretty good player, but not getting on the field as a DB in 2023 if you're not hurt means you aren't a very good player unfortunately.

You admit that there’s lack of depth in the secondary. And we all know that it was insanely thin. Yet, Welch could barely get playing time.

What’s that say about him as an SEC player?

He’s definitely one I saw hitting the portal. Just never clicked for him here and some of that is probably coaching. We need a new cornerback coach yesterday. Good luck to LT Welch though.

I do believe it is very difficult to recover 100% from two major knee surgeries in high school. Then try to compete at SEC level. Hopefully he still has the potential to get better. I know he will work extremely hard wherever he goes. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Could be with a good program. Good Luck LT

It's hard to say how good he or any of our cornerbacks actually are in this ridiculous scheme. I barely remember them being allowed to play any press man coverage. All we saw all damn year was a ten yard cushion.

He was probably sent packing during his post season interview. Now we need to find a bunch of replacements at DB and especially DL.

Which defensive player that started his playing career at LSU, that you could use as an example, who has met or exceeded his recruiting grade?

I've always said safety was his true position. Dude just wasn't quick enough to play corner at LSU. Hopefully we find some depth in the portal.

Honestly, I don’t know if it’s fair to pass judgment on defensive play this year, and especially under House. We recruit athletes who play man coverage throughout their whole careers and are built for it, then install zone schemes.

sure hope this dude doesn't go to a D-I school and expect playing time... if he couldn't get much here, this year, with how bad our secondary was, he has no chance to beat anyone out with a pulse

Man that was so aggravating! Opponents need 10 yards and our DB’s lining up 13 to 15 yards off the ball

Wish him the best. I have mixed feelings about him leaving because we don't know if he didn't play well because of coaching or talent.

Yes we do. We have…

JK Johnson
Zy Alexander
Ashton Stamps
Sage Ryan
Ryan Yaites

Then we have about three freshmen coming in. We will add a couple of portal guys. That will give us about 10 corners. I expect we will have to run off at least one more.

There is no reason to keep an inadequate guy just because his name is familiar, it is followed by the letters CB, and it used to have four stars next to it.
