re: LSU basketball futility without Will Wade

Fair enough.
I would have said I don’t know what other coaches are out there, but there has to be and I trust that Verge knows who they are.
For the record I’m not against Wade coming back although the cult is just getting a little creepy. Wanting the AD to actually have a search and vetting process outside of just one dude, even though fans like myself don’t know many up and coming coaches out there, is perfectly reasonable.

It's definitely an asterisk, but canceling the whole tournament (worth a billion+ per season) was unprecedented and LSU was firmly in the tournament.
I agree, but they had not reached the point of selecting participants, and you know I am a stickler for details.

LSU was firmly in the tournament. It counts IMO.
LSU was firmly in this year if Thomas and Reed don't have season ending injuries and barely touch the floor in the SEC play.
This is ridiculously stupid, even for you.

I think the Wade-cult and the anti-Wade cult are equally creepy. For me, I prefer the creepy LSU MBB wins cult since I watch almost every game, every year, even in our lowest times. The anti-Wade cult seems to have a direct correlation to people that hate, don't care, or at best are casual LSU MBB fans. Just look at the posters here that are defending CoachMc and/or hating the idea of Wade. It's a who's who of notoriously bad posters.

As opposed to Reece who was one of the worst?
Thomas was maybe second behind Acuff as a complete PG when he was fully healthy. He was averaging 16 PPG, 7 APG (led the SEC), and 3 RPG and was ramping up his scoring before the foot injury.

Alt summed it up fairly well
So it’s not that Wade is the only man for the job..
It’s that he’s a known commodity at a time this program REALLY needs one.

Pretend this is football and LSU can simply make a big offer to lure away the HC of one of the top 10 or so seeds in the tournament?
If Dan Hurley says today, "I really hate it in Connecticut. I'd like to move to Baton Rouge.", the I will be the FIRST one on the train saying "forget Wade. Bring in Hurley."
But that isn't going to happen. So LSU is left trying to make the best decision with the information on hand and with the options available. I am very sure there is a guy at a mid-major school, right now, who is going to make the jump and be really good. Maybe even great. Just look at Golden, May and others. Unfortunately, I can't tell you who that is going to be. There are also multiple guys at mid-major schools right now who will get a major conf job and fade off into obscurity...like McMahon. That is the MORE likely outcome.
So if I have an option of a guy who I have seen win at my school. I've seen never have a losing record. I've seen consistently reach the NCAA Tournament, I'm going to take it and hope that he can build upon that success. Kelvin Sampson coached for 11 years at major conf. programs before he even won his first NCAA Tournament game. He's since been to multiple Final Four

I will never understand the obsession with Will Wade. It's as if there are no other good coaches that could come to LSU and be successful.
Been dealing with the fricking Rant a long time and I agree, the obsession is fricking ridiculous and pathetic.

Holy shite
I guess if you ignore the defensive side of the ball. Tell me about that south carolina game again, the one that thomas played in?

You mean the one where his foot was clearly still injured and eventually had to shut it down for the season because of it? Its ok to admit Thomas and Reed being hurt drastically changed our season.
I mean it kills your narrative that McMahon is the worst coach to ever walk the earth, so I know that's a struggle, but it's the truth.

Yes it drastically cost us MAYBE 2 more wins and possibly a .500 record.

But there is no reasonable discussion now with some people. Semantics of Covid is a talking point? It's deflection.

quote:it did and i readily admit that. Prob 2-3 wins, so maybe 6 or 7 total sec wins. Thats a fair amount. Those 2 werent going to make up for the shitty defense, they were a part of it.

Pretty sure ive never said that, although he is making the case for the worst at lsu pretty well on his own

Butt Pirate Queen when he sees a Will Wade thread
He's just trolling at this point. He's a contrarian. That's his schtick, and it's tired.. You literally can't defend last place out of 16 freaking teams in year 4. You can't.

Which ones have recently? You don't understand the proven one?

Since 1993 LSU has made the ncaa tournament only 6 times in 28 seasons in the years without Will Wade.
LSU made the ncaa tournament 4 seasons in a row with Will Wade as coach.
Now these are what are called “facts.” McMen seem to struggle with this concept many learned in First Grade.

I saw PK trying to suggest losing DJ and Reed as the equivalent ot the COVID year

LSU needs BIG Basketball donors......it is now mandatory to have serious amounts of CASH to field just an average team.....no matter the coach!
While true, you need a coach to inspire donors to give. Look at all the money Lane brought to the table. Nobody wants to give money when they don’t believe it will yield results.
