We need to start tampering in the portal. Alabama and Mizzou pick up kids the day the portal opens? How tf

It's not about any of that BS, McMahon will have to find very good players who many other better teams dont believe are necessarily very good players so we dont get outbid and such. We know we're not going to spend money and attract a Top 5 ranked portal talent probably.

You would be surprised LSUs NIL budget. He isn’t lacking in his ability to bring people in due to that. Nor is football, baseball, women’s basketball, or gymnastics.

It can be done, Mizzou last year and Florida and Mississippi State this year were filled with portal guys. The question is can McMahon do it.

It can be done at LSU with the right Coach. Nobody big time wants to play for this guy. Yes he probably is a great guy. He is just not the Head guy at a program like LSU. This guy is a glorified assistant coach.

I don't know what Reed does well. Every now and then he flashes but usually sticks out like a sore thumb.

He’s either the best player on the court, or he’s brain dead. Him only playing 20 mpg in year 2 on a bad team isn’t great.

Ward and Williams would benefit from a PG than can shoot. They can easily slack off Hannibal on defense and help with double teams and driving lanes. Love Hannibal but he can be a liability on offense. Reed is the biggest disappointment. 6'10" and ZERO rebounds last nigh. ZERO. Baker had 1. That is not acceptable at this level. have a couple of nice recruits coming in. Hopefully Chest is as advertised and Collins can make the jump. Need a couple of more athletic bigs to rebound/rim protect and veteran PG that can also shoot and take care of the ball. maybe Carlos Stewart comes back healthy and adds to the scoring options. But the portal is key to Mcmahons success next year, no doubt about that.

Stewart and Collins need to be processed. They weren’t good when they were healthy. Hoping these guys develop in to competent players isn’t a good strategy. We need a roster sweep with a big HS and portal class. That doesn’t seem to be the coaches strategy to roster management tho.

Ward showed the biggest improvement from last year. But you also have to wonder whether that was "improvement" or really just what he could always do, but not given much opportunity to play significant minutes until the very end of last season. It was incredibly frustrating to watch LSU get blown out time and time again last season, yet Ward wasted away on the bench until the game was clearly out of hand. In the last 9-10 games of the season he started playing 20+ minutes and was a 38%-40% 3 point shooter...which is not that far off from where he was this year at 41%

I'm sure the usual suspects will disagree, but I don't think Reed improved much from last season. The same issues that were there last year were there this season. At times he was dominant and you saw the flashes of potential greatness. Then, like you said, FAR too many times it looked like he was zoned out, or high, or something.

Williams had his share of freshman moments. But I think most would agree he outperformed his expectations and looks like he could be a good player going forward. Of course, part of that was because McMahon had little choice but to play him early with Cook ineligible. It's surprising how guys may be able to get better when they actually get significant minutes to gain experience.

Chest is TBD because McMahon chose to redshirt him I guess to develop him for that 5th year...that he'll never play at LSU.

I’ve seen it differently.

Ward is absolutely the player we expected and should take a bigger role next year if we get a competent PG whose shot had to be respected. Love love Hannibal but the defense had no worries with him at the top of the key. He was TJ Pugh if Pugh could drive like a full back.

Williams is better than expected. Needs more work but has ice in the veins and tons of athleticism. Love that kind of player, need more like him.

Reed is a cypher, either the best player or the worst player on the court. But that’s something that we’ve seen with other big men. His bball IQ and motor can turn on as he develops. I think we go as Reed goes next year.

Ward and Reed may be gone. Just a gut feeling. I will come back to eat crow if they don't

Oh wow, hope your gut is wrong. Ward improved so much during the year, and when Reed is playing well, he seems unstoppable. Coach just has to figure out how to get it out of him.

No my daggers are dull, if you can’t see that this team is right below average you don’t understand the criticism. These people jus call everyone Wade worshipers if you talk bad about MM, it’s gotten old. 2 upsets and they crowned him King, North Texas shows you what kind of team we’ve become. We are the Vandy, Miss St of SEC football. MM first year we were the worst, this year eh we beat a good team, excited the McMen only to lose to next to last place Arkansas and North Tx in the equivalent of the Blue Lake Nail Salon Bowl two weeks later. Ugh

State is a team built on kids from Mississippi buying into their team and and coach. Would love to see the same happen to LSU with Louisiana kids. We have the talent CMM just has to identify it and develop it.

I have no way of validating this but its been said that Reed wants 150k to return next season. That may be BS but in todays NIL world, its certainly believable.

If Reed wants 150k send him somewhere else and spend that money on a gd point guard

I think Ward improved his ball handle and on ball creation. Defense is still worrisome. One benefit to Cook’s suspension was that Ward got to play more and do more. It should have been that way from day 1 though.

I don't think Reed improved much from last season

Agree. I do think he’s improved but not enough to where it really matters. He’s supposed to be one of if not the guy next year and that’s troubling.

He’s improved his shot blocking and he’s gotten better at finishing around the rim. His shot is better too. His game had to change quite substantially since he gained weight. He doesn’t push the pace in transition anymore as a point forward like he did his freshman year.

Still worried about mental issues. That’s harder to fix imo.

Chest is TBD

I saw enough at the scrimmage. Won’t be (and don’t expect him to be) a superstar, but he will be a good, scrappy, high motor player. I imagine his game to resemble Hannibal but at 6’8’’

That is a perfect name. You are such a cry baby. LOL. You are a Wade worshipper if all you do is come on here to s**t on Mcmahon. Actually you are borderline mentally unstable as are the rest. Mcmahon isn't above criticism but when it is just unrealistic nonsense every fricking day win or lose then yes. You are a member of the cult. Mcmahon was handed a s**t show when he signed as would anyone have been. So yeah I gave him a pass his first year as did a lot of fans. His second year he won 9 SEC game in one of the toughest conferences while dealing with injuries and an egocentric PG. yet he still beat KY and SC yet you still belittle those victories so yeah, you're a member of the Wade cult. You are a worshipper. I don't worship anyone but God. I will give Mcmahon a few years to turn it around because I'm not an unrealistic dick head whose life revolves around the wins and losses of a basketball team. I have my criticisms of Mcmahon but only an idiot or a Wade cult worshipper believes he should be fired after winning 7 more SEC games and getting to the NIT.
