Hit for better average from the right side than I would’ve guessed just needs to find some power
Posted on 7/14/22 at 8:51 pm to DBG
He had 1 homer to straight center RH. Beginning of the season he looked uncomfortable RH but that changed as the season went. Still not nearly as much pop from the right side nor does the swing look as smooth.

That was the point I was trying to make. Scouts definitely took note of it.

Let the staff decide.
They will, but this is a LSU sports message board during the most boring part of the athletic calendar.

2.3B. White
3.1B. Tre
4.LF. Pearson
5.SS. Pineda
6.RF. Kling
7.DH. Jobert
8.2B. Thompson
9.C. Brady Neal (Yeah I said it)

Yea but hitting .375 definitely isn’t struggling and obviously plenty good enough to continue
If he develops an ounce of power from the right, he’ll be a monster

No. Not struggling with average. Struggling with showing the power he was supposed to have from that side too. If he’s going to be an elite SH, he can’t have just one Hr from that side.

He had shown equal power from the right side at Arizona. People have seen him hit from that side far more than we have at LSU and none of them seem to be suggesting it is an issue. SSS

Yes, he’d need more power than he showed here in 2022. But you didnt specify power only.
There isn’t a scouting report out there that suggests he drops SH.

His problems from the right side are overstated because of a mini slump he had early this year. He will be fine. I feel like his swing from that side is a little long, causing some issue, but that can be tweaked

I thought the opposite. His swing from the right side was more inside out, compact, straight to late, didn't get the barrel out, unsure of himself. His swing from the left side was long but twitchy, barrel stayed in the zone a long time, great pitch recognition. Just what I saw.
And again, I never thought he was bad from the right side. Just different.

I think his swing was more level from the right side

Trey is the 1B. No ifs ands or buts. The guy’s defense saves bases and saves runs. There are not many 1B with that degree of defensive prowess. You don’t move that to the OF.
Pineda at SS will almost certainly lead off. Prototypical place setter.
A lefty makes sense in the 2 hole, especially if you have a lefty who is a dead pull hitter. Pineda’s high OBP will protect a dead pull lefty from the shift.
Crews batting third.
It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the order shakes out. A lot of plug and play depth to mix and match matchups etc.

If he DHs all year, his stats are probably as good or better, less chance for injury, etc. The scouts may still have questions about his defense but no answers - they have questions and answers now
If he DH’d all year on that LSU team, that kicked the ball all over the infield, it would have shown a ton!

Is it a safe assumption Romero doesn’t make it to campus? If he does you have to think he’s getting a look right?

I think this is pretty close. Would be really nice to have Neal here as a LHH catcher to break up all of the righties at the bottom or for Romero to slip through. The other option to get a LHH in the lineup would be to use White at 3B to open up the DH spot for Jobert or Beloso.

If a better 1B option was there, and you still wanted Tre in lineup, where would he play, if not LF?
