I just wonder if Berry would be in the conversation for #1 pick if he didn't put more tape out that exposed his defense. If he DHs all year, his stats are probably as good or better, less chance for injury, etc. The scouts may still have questions about his defense but no answers - they have questions and answers now. Just something for Tommy Tanks to think about when pushing for time on defense.

I don’t think that’s wrong. But we do also have Tommy for 2 years vs Jacob for 1

I think he maybe DHs this year and plays the field his money year.

His defense improved with reps. I don’t think it’s an issue… his swing from the right side however…

I'll have my line-up prediction after seeing the newcomers during fall practice. I can get a lot better handle on things after seeing them live in game like situations.

Maybe. I think the ball just didn't find him as much at 3B. He's robotic, which bodes well for hitting the baseball but not for defense. He'll have to loosen up to be an average defender at any position. You need to have some bend and agility.

Just a totally different approach and swing from the right side. I didn't think he was bad from the right side, just not 1st round guy from the right side. He was over robotic from the right side, much less twitchy, etc.

I would imagine he’ll be a left handed hitting first baseman at the next level. Maybe he sticks as a switch hitter but I can’t see him being anything but a 1st baseman/DH

These were berry’s freshmen splits

You don’t really just commit to one side all of a sudden. That’s not common at all. You have to wonder if the injury played a part

Batting LH

AB: 176
H: 64
BB: 23
2B: 12
3B: 5
HR: 11
RBI: 47

363/428/672

Batting RH

AB: 71
BB: 13
H: 23
2B: 7
3B: 0
HR: 6
RBI: 23

323/413/676

What were his splits this season? I couldn’t find them. I don’t believe he had a homer but his avg was still pretty high if I recall

He had far fewer at bats this season, I know that much.

Not sure, but he’s been extensively scouted & I’ve never seen any notes about how he has a dominant or poor side

He was struggling on the right side way before any injury.

Yea, stop thinking Tre is moving from 1st. Tre will be at 1st and Tommy Tanks will be at 3rd.
