LSU Baseball Starting Lineup 2023

Interested to see what everyone's projected starting lineup looks like for next baseball season. I know this will change depending on what players like Guidry do in the draft, but just want to see what people are thinking.
1. Pearson RF
2. Crews CF
3. Tommy Tanks 1B
4. Tre LF
5. Dugas DH/3rd (Kling, Joubert or Beloso if they improve)
6. Pineda 2nd
7. Jordan Thompson 3rd/DH (any chance Kling could start at 3rd?)
8. Carter Young SS
9. Milazzo C --> If we get Skenes he would start and bat 4th
Starting Rotation:
1) Hurd
2) Tebrake (if he makes it to campus)
3) Little / Ty Floyd
Midweek Starter: Grant Taylor
If we get any other 2022 pitching recruits like Kennedy, Noot, etc. this could change.
Thoughts?

Why would Kling play 3rd?
Pretty sure Skenes would come as a pitcher
Tre isn’t playing OF with the current depth out there.

Kling played SS for 3 years in HS (it was just an idea to get him in the lineup if Tre plays LF). Skenes would pitch, but he plays catcher when he doesn't pitch. Tre projects as an OF in the majors.

I don’t see Morgan moving to the OF
I get The thought process. He’s an elite defender at a position you can usually shove an average defender.

I hope Tre stays at 1st. Everyone just says he will not play 1B in the Majors.

I do get the argument like the other poster said. We really can do so many different lineups.
I personally think Pineda SS Thompson 2B and Carter Young as a back up.

Can we stop with moving Tre from 1st base please? Tre’s father groomed him to be a 1st baseman from the time he was little…he’s a 1st baseman..period.

I don’t see LSU putting their everyday catcher on the mound. Hypothetical because Skenes isn’t on the roster, but if anything he would DH when not pitching.
Everything I’ve ever read about Kling is he’s an outfielder on this level.
Tanks will get a shot at 3rd, because 1st base is not an option as long as Tre is here. Regardless of where he projects at the next level, he’s playing 1st at LSU.
C - Millazo if he can hit over .200.
1B - Tre
2B and SS- 2 of Thompson, Pineda, and Young
3rd - Tanks
LF - Dugas
CF - Crews
RF - Pearson
DH - Kling, although I think he eventually starts in one of the corner OF spots.

Tre will play outfield at the next level but he will play 1B on this team next year. The outfield is just too deep and you are already replacing 2 infielders.

I think our best lineup would be:
1. Pearson RF
2. Crews CF
3. Tommy Tanks DH or 3rd
4. Tre 1B
5. Dugas 3rd or DH
6. Pineda SS
7. Kling LF
8. JT or Carter Young 2nd (depends on JT's fielding)
9. Milazzo C

4. Tre 1B
5. Dugas 3rd or DH

7. Kling LF

9. Milazzo C

Just don’t see the point of this until after the draft and portal. Maybe better to do this in August.

I think he plays a majority of the season at first, but wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the OF some. And I am a big play Tre’ at first guy. I don’t care if he doesn’t project at 1st in the MLB. This is still college. And when I say that it has nothing to do with his ability there. He is awesome. I think the MLB has to play their big non athletic guys there. The home run mashers.

At LSU? Seriously? With Crews, Pearson, Kling, Stephenson and Dugas, ..why would he have to play some OF? And he’s arguably the best 1st baseman in the SEC.

Tre breaks the mold of “just stick your best hitter at 1st”
He saves MULTIPLE outs per game, not per seasons, per game.
He’s a top 10 1st baseman in the league if he was called up today.

You can't possibly believe this. He is a great college player but that statement is a bit much.
He will play 1B next season because no reason not to. Only way he doesn't is if he asks Jay to put him in the OF just to show what he can do a little bit in a few games to help his draft stock. He will not be a 1B at the next level.

So one of the best 1st basemen in college baseball won’t play 1B in the majors? I’m confused.

Jay will start Milazzo if he’s healthy. Entire defense and pitching is better when he is in.

1b is a power/offensive position in the majors. Tre can hit but isn’t that type of hitter.
