CJJ likes these tournaments as prep for postseason play but are absolutely money grabs for fans.

That was the old Winn Dixie showdown in the Dome LSU,UNO, & Tulane v 3 teams from another state. I really enjoyed those games with my dad and brothers

And who killed the W.Dixie Classic? tulane's greed. It's A.D. wanted a bigger share of the gate & Skip told her to take a hike. The LSU games were out drawing all the others, significantly. As for not playing cream puffs, CJJ has said that two stronger teams pulled out in Sept. when they had coaching changes & he had to scramble to just find 2 other teams.

From a fan perspective, Biloxi would be great. From a revenue perspective, it doesn't make much sense. The stadium in Biloxi does not seat enough to make it lucrative enough to the teams.
Also the Winn Dixie showdown was the GOAT.

Have been to the ones in Minute Maid and Round Rock. And they are well-patronized by Tiger fans to say the least.
We currently have 8 players on roster from TX. We also have 7 other games in TX on schedule for '25 and 3 more just across the Red River in OK.
FTR, no objections to playing in a MS Gulf Coast tourney.

Hate to break it to you but LSU has a massive following in Texas. Not just a lot of fans it’s to the point where you damn near see just as much LSU as you see A&M and Texas.
Easily see more LSU than Baylor TCU and TTU. Just because you personally don’t have interest in traveling from nola to Texas to see LSU doesn’t mean it doesn’t move the needle for the fan base as a whole. Not to mention the large number of Tiger fans in LC and Shreveport who can just as easily make the trip to Texas as they could elsewhere.
LSU = a Texas team

Yep. When they do the Shriners Classic at Minute Maid with LSU it’s almost always like an LSU home game. I was at the LSU vs Texas game last year. Electric environment and both sides fans showed up in full force.
I’ll be in Frisco this year and although im not expecting it to be like Minute Maid, I still believe Tiger nation will make its presence known.
Anyone who is saying otherwise simply hasn’t been to one of these Texas tournaments. They are a lot of fun, especially early in the season.

We don’t even play Ole Miss this season, so I wouldn’t have a problem playing Ole Miss in one of these weekend round robins in seasons where there are no weekend series with SEC teams.

So start SEC before we get in to SEC play?
This sounds great for fans, but doesn’t make any sense for the team stand point.
We did it for years with the Winn-Dixie Classic in the 90s. It did not seem to hurt us in 1991 when we held the ABCA tourney that had MS State in it either.

I think it's great that they come to Texas to allow us Texas Tigers a chance to see them.

Shiners doesn’t put the SEC teams against other. Dipshit above doesn’t understand that.

All of those teams, except ULL and Tulane, already play exhibition games at MGM in Biloxi. Seems like it would be very easy to schedule a tournament involving all of them together.

Same goes for Fb games at NRG. It’s almost a given any time LSU is in the mix for the Texas bowl. I’m not a big fan of neutral site regular season games but one at NRG every 3 or 4 seasons won’t hurt.

I can see some people might think it would take away from our brand

Tired of these Texas tourneys
What I get tired of are college games in huge MLB domes. Domes are sleepy enough as is but when they are empty during a college game, it’s even more depressing.
I do think the Frisco thing will be much more enjoyable being outside and in a smaller stadium.

As a guy who lives on the coast, that would be awesome. I also realize it isn't going to happen because Shucker stadium isn't big enough
