Surprised Watson is batting fifth, Smith must be back and wrecking shite to take that second spot

Watson has a ton of power for his size

Not questioning his power, he’s on base a lot with speed, perfect 2 hole

I like where he's at. He gives Cabrera some protection.

He’s going to help protect Cabrera with how well he puts the bat on the ball. I look for Cabrera to have a nice year if that top 5 stays healthy.

He swings and misses too much for my liking to put him at 2. Watson is also a terrible baserunner and I don’t like my 2 hole giving up outs on the basepaths before my 3-4-5 guys are batting. Smith is perfect at 2. Can get on himself, has good pop, can bunt, and can handle the bat very well for those hit and runs Maineiri loves to do.

I’d flip Gaza and Watson, but one thing we know is the lineup with change.

So is this what it will look like defensively game 1?

Josh Smith at 3B
Hal Hughes at SS
Brandt Broussard 2B

Or Smith at Short and Hughes at 3rd. Believe I saw that mentioned somewhere. CPM likes to have a solid glove at third.

Either that or Smith at SS and Hughes at 3b. I honestly expect us to finish the year with Smith at SS and Bianco at 3B unless Hughes vastly improved at the plate. Maybe see Dugas get a shot there as well.

CPM has been raving about Smith, he's starting at short.
