“30 year Lease with the Title Transferring at the end of the Lease (Finance Type Lease) to LSU. A very common type of Leasing arrangement.”
Are they required to update it after 30years before turning it over to LSU…? How does that typically work?
Or do we get a building with aged stuff like roofs.. ac..etc.??

That would depend on the contract, there could be provisions in the contract that allow for Lease Improvements that LSU can make as they generate revenues from concerts, concessions and LSU sports.
Leasehold improvements are expenditures that can be made by the Lessor (Landlord) or the Renter (Lessee) or both depending on how the Lease Contract is written.

Hopefully they can use the construction of this arena to shore up the massive issues with parking on game days.

They want to build a multi-million dollar arena. They want to help to pay for it over the next 30 years with things like concerts.
They don’t want to have to get into a bidding war with the only other arena in the area that could house something like that.
So they got the city to agree to limit capacity of the raising canes center so that LSU can host the big events.
The Canes center can now be fully repurposed for conventions.

BR has 27 conventions/conferences scheduled this year. Not too bad for BR.
There are plans for a hotel. I saw it mentioned near the Old State Capitol, but I don’t think there’s enough space there. Across the street in those abandoned buildings would make more sense.

Which devalues the naming rights, advertising, and concessions/catering revenue to the RC center. I love how people have zero Fs to give for essentially re-writing contracts after the fact. Maybe Cane's will still be the sponsor after the changes go into effect, but they're not going to pay the same, by any stretch of the imagination.
LSU already has a place to host big events, as Garth Brooks has proven. But it's more horse trading BS, which even so called conservatives will support. Never change, Louisiana, never change.

Be thankful that the city and LSU have some type of vision here and are working together. They've decided that it's best to repurpose the River Center into a convention center with a new hotel. This new arena will be on LSU's campus and will house LSU Basketball along with other major concerts and events. And it's being built without any type of tax increase or financial debt incurred by LSU/TAF.
I'm sure Cane's is more than welcome to sponsor this new arena though. The Moody Foundation paid $130M to the University of Texas for the naming rights at Moody Center.
