In retrospect, it certainly feels like Purgatory. Can't remember anything notable. How did he last so long?

He was supposed to get canned in 2015 but DJ Chark saved his arse and they carried him off the field!

There were notable wins and notable losses. Purgatory is the right word for it !

I agree that the records were fine but the way we were playing sucked. The way too close for comfort games against crappy Ole Miss and State teams followed by late season losses to Bama and Arkansas got extremely annoying.

2008-2010(until the Bama win) was way worse

In retrospect is the key phrase it always looks clearer after the fact. He won the SEC and played for the NC in 2011. The 2012 team was in contention but lost a heart breaker to Alabama (that game in retrospect was the end for Miles imo) 2013 was 10-3 not bad, kinda rebuilding. the 2014 recruiting class was outstanding so giving him 2 years to get back to the top was fine. Which he did not so he was gone, should have been fired at the end of 2015, then again we probably get Fisher so it worked out for the best

Hugh Freeze was at Ole Miss from 2012-2016. They were always competitive.

We only lost to State once during that time period (2014). They were always a solid team with Dak/Mullen.

I do agree that the Arkansas losses sucked though. Esp since they followed the Alabama game

And the 9-3 year should have been 10-3 as well. We had a game against McNeese canceled due to weather.

Agreed.

There was a LOT more good than bad. But you knew unless something fluky happened LSU was not going to get another championship with him he flat our refused to change his risk averse offensive approach. Even though the rest of college football was changing around him. The man was literally carried off the field in the final game of 2015, only to get a stay of execution. He then came out in the very first game of 2016 and showed he had changed NOTHING to the approach that almost got him fired the year before.

It was like ending a relationship with someone who you were more or less comfortable but new was never going to make you completely happy. The fear of the unknow and reality that things could be much, much worse kept you from leaving until the point where you just couldn't take it anymore.

Thank God we dodged that shite show. Stupidly hired Ed O, won a championship, and now have Brian Kelly. Worked out perfectly

We had a bad season in 2008 lost a lot of guys from the NC. Improved in 2009 and 2010 was a legitimate top 10 team stacked with young talented. Thats what want to see after a bad year

Yeah but they sucked in 2015 and 2016 and we barely squeaked our wins.

Those Arkansas losses happened BECAUSE they were after our annual Bama losses. Lose to Bama and the team knew we weren’t going to win the SEC or play in the national championships, so they folded.

Purgatory is a bit hyperbole

But gah damn, those teams were stacked and Miles had a uncanny ability to fk it up.
