Great games that year but some lack luster performances too. Check out the ole miss game. Dinardo was not a great coach. He did some thing well and set some things up moving forward for Saban.

The best thing Dinardo did while he was at LSU was petition the NCAA to allow us to wear our White jerseys for home games again

Would y’all trade the Florida win and swap it with wins over auburn and ole miss that year? Lsu would have won the sec west going to their first sec championship against Tennessee that year led by Payton Manning.

Although that would have been cool, I'd say no because Florida dominated us for a decade and to beat them at that time when they were #1 felt like winning a national championship. Anyone who was there that night will never forget the memories of that night. We should have beaten Auburn with Cecil the way he ran against them. That was one of the loudest games too in Tiger Stadium and a hell of a game. Ole Miss just spanked us.

Ole Miss has exposed every head coach LSU has retained since Paul Dietzel.
Examples:
LSU . OM Nick Saban 2003 (we barely won it)
LSU . OM Les Miles 2009 (dumb)
Les Miles Brain Cramp Costs LSU in Loss to Ole Miss 2009
LSU . OM Charles McClendon 1969
LSU-Ole Miss: Five memorable games
Gerry DiNardo is a great head coach.

Since we’ve now been to Atlanta a handful of times, no way. That Florida game is one of the all-time classics of Tiger Stadium. I made the trip over from Jax to go to it with my brother. Glorious. I’d say no even if we were still waiting on our first trip to Atlanta.

Also, in that scenario the SEC title game would’ve been a rematch with Florida since they would’ve had only one loss and owned the tiebreaker over Tennessee.

LSU fans of the generation that suffered through the Purple Poison Era will always have a heartfelt gratitude toward Gerry Dinardo's aggressive efforts in eliminating that scourge.

It was the LSU PR Department that came up with the idea...not Dinardo himself.

I saw him jogging in Sandestin a few years ago...sent him a message on Twitter and he knew a few of the guys I was with...Old High School football coaches from Baton Rouge. I invited him over for dinner and he came.

I asked him specifically about the white Jerseys at home (which I HATE) and he told me it was the PR Department.

They took the "Bring back the Magic" press conference and turned it into a white Jersey campaign.

Great dude! Very down to earth and cool as hell. I wish nothing but the best to him.

The loss to ole miss the week after Florida was disgusting.
Would you rather we lost to Florida and then beat Ole Miss?

After Curley Hellman, Dinardo was a godsend.

DiNardo was pretty good when he had Carl Reese as the DC and Ron Case as the DB coach in the first two years.

When they left, (Reese left to be DC under Mackovic at Texas and Case left to be on Mack Brown's staff at North Carolina) the entire thing fell apart when DiNardo hired Lou "Drop Linebacker" Tepper as the DC.

Stubborness then set in and Gerry refused to admit his big mistake and fire Tepper.

End of story. Close the book...…...…..

Blasphemy

It IS blasphemous.

For the record, does anyone seriously believe LSU could have conquered Auburn in 2017, or Georgia last year, in the afternoon heat, wearing the dreaded purples?

That's pathetic and pitiful. Liking Gerry Dinardo as a person is one thing. Referring to him as a "GREAT" head coach is asinine, and I don't give a da*n how "OLD" you are, Old, this statement is idiotic. You desperately need to get a grip, old timer.

Sabin is the only LSU coach I didnt like , I didnt spread it around because it would not have been good for my beloved LSU I wish every body else was the same way , LSU would be much better for it !

Dinardo’s restaurant (now Ruffinos) was a bold move. I’m guessing he was just licensing his name. I can’t imagine a Saban’s BBQ, or an Orgeron’s Cajun Eatery. I’m guessing that Shula didn’t start his thing five years into his dolphins tenure.
