His defense wasn't so shitty if you consider what he was left with thanks to Chavis and Haley. Haley deserves to be enshrined with Hallman, Tepper, and Malveto in LSU's hall of coaching ineptitude. What might have been with Danielle Hunter....

but our fan base is only satisfied with big names.
apparently Leslie too, since he told Steele to look around. This is sarcasm bc the "big names" comment is stupid and predictable.

Because he didn't have Derek Brown, Big Cat Bryant and Marlon Davidson at LSU...

Thats a lot of excuses to ignore that Steele has spit out top tier defenses at Auburn once given enough time. It’s stupid to think he wasn’t capable of doing it at LSU where recruiting is MUCH easier.

Shut up, you make too much rational sense

I like Steele but if I told you a few years back he would be making 2.5 a year what would you have said?

He runs complex schemes and wasn’t exactly given enough time to get settled. People made the same excuses for Aranda except gave him multiple years.

Aranda's first year LSU was 5th in the country in scoring defense. Go somewhere else with your stupid shite.

Why was his defense so shitty with us? Don't get it.

Lack of experienced talent and depth on the dline. We had Lewis Neal, Christian LaCouture Tashawn Bower and Godchaux (just a sophomore). Behind them were Herron and Gilmore. THAT WAS IT! Plus we had Harris and Jennings at QB, so the defense had to carry the team.

He is the one that bolted after one year. I guess him and Les didn’t get along. Imagine that

2014 Chavis
#4 in the nation in points allowed
#9 in the nation in yards allowed

2015 Steele
#41 in the nation in points allowed
#25 in the nation in yards allowed

2016 Aranda
#5 in the nation in points allowed
#10 in the nation in yards allowed

Steele at Auburn
2016 #7
2017 #12
2018 #15
2019 #17

There's a slight decline, but the SEC offenses are also getting better in that timeframe and he had a better points allowed than Aranda in all but 2016.

LSU Points allowed under Aranda
2016 #5
2017 #14
2018 #27

Possessions. Opponents were getting way more of them due to us scoring so much in 2019. By the end of the season 2019 was playing some of the best defense we have ever had at LSU. And this after I myself was questioning Arranda’s salary mid season.

He left Baton Rouge due to his years in the Alabama pension system. Had to much invested to stay.

Total Defense

Now do offense.

And that why those rankings are relevant.

Stop, dude. They told me Aranda was a genius, and since I can’t think for myself, I believe them.

Exactly. I think he needs one more year. Sometimes it's more than just a football decision.
