I thought his stuff looked pretty good.

Half his pitches felt like spent on first batter of the game.

I think he’ll be fine. As stated above, the balk led to multiple 2 out hits. He could have easily gotten out of the inning with a good bounce or throw to first.

Some bad luck happened. He’ll be alright. He got yanked early

Last season’s postseason experience has got to be an asset he can and will capitalize on this season.

It’s February. Generally the bats are going to be ahead of the pitchers this time of season. Lower pitch counts, gotta get back in rhythm, we’ve got plenty of time to get the kinks out.

This is alarmingly accurate.

As much as we want it to--wins/losses/stats/performance don't mean dick in college baseball until about the middle of May.

Just make sure you win enough games to host at least a regional, and you have as good a chance to get hot and win it all as anyone else.

The dude can throw 96-97 mph. How the hell is that not enough gas?

Was a shite call by an ump looking to be the hot take guy.....you could tell bt the grin when he made the call

Y’all bitch about everything. He balked. His front knee buckled before he stepped off. Its a balk move that almost all pitchers try to use and ump happened to catch it.

It worked out with the Tigers winning the game.

It's good that Hurd got through those innings and looks healthy and ready to go for his next start.

What happened?

Milazzo screwed him over with shite catching technique with a runner on first.

Went from being out of the inning with 1 run scored to giving up 4 just like that.

Baseball happened. Happened to alot of aces around the country too. With that said, he had some shaky outings preseason too, so something to watch

He hit 97 yesterday. By April he will be hitting 99. Dude has gas. His off speed stuff yesterday was faster than VMI’s starters FB.

I’m talking about the play after the balk and the hit, with a runner on first and Milazzo not in a proper throwing stance causing him to make a weak throw off his knee and having no shot to get a runner he gets 99/100 times when he plays it right.

You should have been at the game. The runner from first basically had a running start to his steal break. JT Realmuto couldn’t have thrown that runner out.

Holman / jump / Hurd should be our rotation by sec play

Agree. Milazzo was not ready for the runner. He had a good game otherwise, with some great throws.

Neal took a really hard ball to the facemask latter in the game. Shrugged it off like nothing. Was smiling like he was having fun. Catchers are not sissy-boys.

2 out walk could have been strike 3

Solid hit

Then guy hit a capper over 1st base

Little bad luck but watching the game for first time, VMI has some nice hitters. A lot of these were not lucky hits.

Vmi’s top 4 are pretty solid and they are all seniors. Wont be surprised to see them putting up some runs this year

So seeing jump for 1 inning and Hurd for 2.2 makes you think CJJ needs to move Hurd from Friday to Sunday? We haven’t even seen Holman this year yet.

They had the 5th best BA in all of D1 baseball last year and returned a ton. The over 13.5 was an easy bet.
