Once the threat has been made, the marriage is over. Period.

I feel like our coach and the Tigers will remind everyone of it very soon.

A marriage is emotional. Business should be based on the money. They're threatening "divorce" based on emotions, and not money. This is exactly why we cannot stay unless changes are made at the top of the SEC.

Yeah but the SEC definitely acting like a woman on her period

I negotiate disputes for a living. No party to a dispute wants to ever admit any wrongdoing so they send signals to the other side to try and reach a compromise. LSU is looking for an off ramp. LSU has signaled as such twice by not rostering the players and by filling its roster out. The problem here is that the SEC has not only favorably reacted to LSU's signals but has inflamed the situation. What is crazy is that LSU is now winning the public opinion war.

What is this comment based on? I haven't seen much saying this.
LSU filled the two roster spots last night locking the roster for the season. That is certainly a take the foot off of the gas move from LSU.
Paraphrasing what Dellenger says is that league meeting will establish precendent in order to enforce rules. Implies, if not comes right out and says, that will not vote to expel. Now, I've read so many quotes and tweets that I would be hard pressed to go back and find it to link it, but that was an educated guess at what was going on according to what I would term reputable sources.
Both of those things indicate to me a cooling of temperature, but then this is just a message board and I'm speculating like everyone else based on the reporting that I am seeing. I don't have inside knowledge, just espousing an opinion because that is largely why fora such as these exist.

I don't believe LSU was ever going to roster the players.

Staying would be worse. Your wife hands you divorce papers, and then changes their mind and you're supposed to act like nothing's changed? You can't go back to the way things were.
You overly emotional types should never be in business. No business deal should ever be like a marriage. There should be 0 emotion involved.

Are you claiming the SEC is acting with zero emotion? Because I would completely disagree with that.

This has been well-known for a long time, now.

It’s worse than that. More like:
Your wife hands you divorce papers, anfter banging your BF and then changes their mind and you're supposed to act like nothing's changed?

This is a business decision and generally when someone wrongfully attacks you, you humbly unleash the dogs and give them no quarter. It’s called justice.

Well, now we know that for a fact, so that leaves no ambiguity at all.

I am claiming that there should be 0 emotions in business dealings. We all know there are some, at least. I think the SEC is being a bit personal here, but I think the final outcome will be more reason-based.
Part of this is Sankey's pride, I think, but it's also the SEC trying to make sure it does not get neutered as the NCAA did.
Which is understandable, so long as they do not get selectively draconian like the NCAA tried to do way back. By doing so, the NCAA accelerated its own decline, as the SEC will do if they choose such a path.
The current posturing seems akin to a parent threatening to whip a child. Often, the threat is more effective than the action if the action is applied improperly.

It's like if your wife says that she will divorce you if you cheat on her with your work wife (almost doing something wrong). If you stop and don't do that wrong act, the marriage is fine.

How in gods name do you come up with this stuff? There are many people in bad marriages that get out and find someone new and live happy lives.
