Went to the airport when the team returned home from Atlanta and got me a "Destination Dallas" cap.

Went to the Memphis State game...that was awesome.

That team also started out 14-0.

I think they were as high as #8 in the polls, then the team had a chicken pox outbreak and played several games undermanned. I remember during this part of the season they played what I remember to be a highly ranked Georgetown team in a nationally televised game in D.C. and almost upset them, losing by less than 5 points. At least all of the above is how I remember, I’m at the age where I mix up a lot of stuff.

I had a clock radio outside at the camp with alum foil all around to get just enough signal to catch the games on wwl.

Same here with the aluminum foil radio. Had to sneak it under my pillow after bedtime to listen to end of double OT Purdue game since it ran late on school night. My mom busted me but just gave up. I wasn't going to miss the ending.

Wasn't that the infamous "Jose, don't shoot" game?

Great read from day of Georgetown game (by Michael Wilbon). Talks about chicken pox outbreak, Dale, Bob Brodhead fed investigation, Tito Horford, etc.

NICE Memories of that LSU Team! In Final 4 LSU had Halftime lead over eventual Champ Louisville too!

Exactly when my parents got divorced. LSU's Final 4 Run helped thru that rough time.

I made 4 of the 5 NCAA games in that run. I had to miss the Thursday night opener against Purdue to study for a major EE exam.

Drove to Atlanta and Dallas, sold $40 championship game ticket for $75 to a Louisville fan, drove home on the Monday and got back to BR just in time to watch "Never Nervous" Pervis Ellison and Louisville win the championship over Duke.

I was at the Purdue game. It was incredible. One of the best sports memories of my life.

Yes, Baton Rouge's own Keith Smart at Indiana via junior college. Might be related to Javonte.

That Purdue game. It was just about the best game and atmosphere I’ve ever been at in the PMAC.

That was a special team and an amazing run.

That was a magical run, I was in college then and remember it well.

We were very fortunate to play the first to games at home and honestly probably don't make it past the first game against Purdue had that not been a home game.

But they did that all the time back then to boost attendance. The practice of teams getting games on their home courts was banned soon thereafter.

But we did beat even No. 2 Ga. Tech and No. 1 seed Kentucky after that so we earned our keep with those wins. Were even beating Louisville by 6 at half.

Double OT win vs. 6.Purdue in BR

Me and the future wife were at that one. As we’ve talked about on here, the atmosphere in the PMAC back then was incredible. Purdue coach was Gene Keady iirc. Wild game.

Taylor graduated from Redemptorist the year before me (81) and was part of some serious teams there. Started as PG as a true freshman. Dude was nails (as was High C).

Best win ever IMHO was the Memphis game. 83-81.

Was at those games in BR. Taylor was a great PG! If Anthony Wilson had worked on his ball handling skills he would have played in the NBA. Was a deadly shooter but no handles. Blanton gave one of the greatest performances in NCAA tournament history. No way that team should have gone as far with him playing center.

I was a student at the time and attended the Memphis win. Awesome game. That Anthony Wilson shot at the buzzer.....priceless.
