And that’s just one event from one of the two sessions in 2021. There were 80 All-American slots plus ties in just that one season. I’m not saying she isn’t an elite gymnast. She is. Her performance at LSU just wouldn’t move the needle in social media if she had not already built up her following.

Show me where I did that. She is a good college gymnast, but there are 50 others just as good. That’s still elite. The point is it isn’t so elite that it has done much of anything to impact her fame. People don’t know her because she was a 2nd team AA in Uneven Bars. There weren’t millions of people watching the NCAA championship that year.

It seems a few folks here have lost touch with the synergy of NIL rule changes, and Livvy's arrival as the highest paid NIL NCAA athlete. Livvy brought her endorsements to Baton Rouge. She helped catalyze notoriety that quickly morphed to "NILSU".
In terms of NILSU branding, Livvy, the instant pinnacle of NIL, absolutely legitimized it. Credit where credit is due.

Well, I wouldn't put her in the same bracket as Shaq and Bregman, who never won a national title at LSU.

I have no problem with this whatsoever. My point has nothing to do with whether or not she “deserves” the money she is making. Companies pay her to bring attention to their products to improve their sales. She’s good at doing that so she is paid accordingly. My point is that her ability to do that has almost nothing to do with being a COLLEGE athlete and even less to do with her affiliation with LSU. She barely competed this season, yet her following and income has only grown. LSU didn’t get her NIL deals. Her deals are about her, not LSU. That’s still a positive thing for LSU, but it’s a stretch to act like coming to LSU had anything to do with her success. That’s all I’m saying.

Not sure why this is controversial. Dunne stated herself in interviews that most of her followers didn't even know she was a gymnast when the NIL rule changes happened.
