re: Listen to Hanagriff and Ott Today if you Don't Think This Miles Stuff Is Real

Tennessee is unique in that they have no recruiting grounds in the state. Memphis kids don't go to UT and Nashville is just now starting to have a national presence in HS football.
In the case of Tennessee, you can't really justify hiring a guy from a place that had a losing record overall at his previous stop (especially looking back on it). These recruiting limitations you speak of for this program do not appear to be a serious issue for he current coach.

Also no one realized Sark was a pill poppin' alchy.
The UW fans apparently did, and were excited that they took him off their hands.

optimism is something you're born with. once you cross over to the dark side i'm not sure there is a way to come back.

It sounds real to me and they are continuing to say the big donors are fed up and would rather donate their money to buyout Miles instead of donate to the athletic department now. They seem to think things are heating up so much because they have Jimbo lined up and Hanagriff says there would be no coaching search if this happens. Hanagriff also said that they had Jimbo lined up in 2012. Interesting stuff and Hanagriff says he knows they are not happy and there may be a change even if they go 1-1 in the next 2 games.
not real

My only thing is that if we fire Miles and miss on Jimbo for whatever reason, then we are in trouble.
And that's more likely to happen than not if that is their 1st target. We got Saban in here when no one else was really trying to get him. The same with Miles. I just think the fans' opinion of LSU is much higher than people outside of Louisiana.
Everybody says the line would be down the street, but those would be of coaches that aren't at the top that we would want. Besides, this fan base is difficult to deal with as evidenced by the Rant. We'd almost certainly be looking at an unproven commodity and hoping for the best.
If we're going that route my only choice is Tom Herman. Gary Patterson is my established coach choice. And Mike Gundy is a guy who is established that we could probably realistically get in here with a good pedigree.
All I can say is every good coach at the top programs will be getting huge raises if LSU hits the market for a coach and they will not end up with either of the top 2-3 targets. That's just how it has worked across the landscape. People typically like where they are when they have successful programs.

City of Tallahassee equals to Cleveland

I just don't want to be used by other coaches to get raises at their current schools even though I know it would happen. Herman will be looking for a step up to a big-time program. Fisher already has that.

Am I the only one who thinks there are better candidates out there besides Jimbo? I mean if we are going to dream is take both Mac at Florida and Dabo and a whole host of mid major guys over Jimbo.

City of Tallahassee also kept Winston and Cook eligible. That probably means quite a bit to a coach like Fisher. It's different in the SEC. Alabama will turn anybody in if it provides a competitive advantage.

So you are saying if FSU were in the SEC or Jameis was at LSU, he wouldn't have gotten off solely because of Alabama?
Holy shite

You do know that the buyout is spread out over years and years right? Also if Miles wants a lump they will negotiate the hell out of that one.

This doesn't and shouldn't effect the decision at all. Money is money, and any structured payments will likely include interest making them worse in the long run. I shouldn't buy a million dollar house just because I don't have to make a lump sum payment. Like it or not LSU's athletic department is a business and this would be an AWFUL business decision. If you truly want Miles gone and Jimbo here (assuming he even wants to come) then it will take at least waiting until after the 2016 season when the numbers become more manageable, which is exactly what I think the LSU AD is mulling over right now.

His agent took advantage of Alleva, reset the clock on his buyout for guaranteed years. Alleva was the idiot there.
No he wasn't. Why can't you just say Les was a pice of shite for putting Alleva in that position anyways? It was a piece of shite, money grab move
Posted on 11/18/15 at 1:33 pm to tigerbait2010
I can't blame anyone for trying to get more money. I can blame Alleva for agreeing to it.

Bingo! The whole Miles using Arkansas as leverage was all his Agent: by the name of Jimmy Sexton. Ring a bell? This is what Sexton does for Saban every yr & all the rest of his clients. Do you really think CLM called Sexton up & said "Jimmy, get me some more money"? CLM was as actively involved in this as is Saban every year. All Sexton, CLM was not the bad guy if that even fits.

No, actually it's not a big difference. And regardless you have no clue what you're talking about on a lot of different levels in this thread

Sexton is not Mile's agent George Bass is. Not as slimy as Sexton, but close.
