39 in the bowl doesn’t mean we are starting next season with 39 players. I’m not calling for Kelly’s head if LSU goes 6-6 next year but I don’t think it is going to happen. The level of talent on the roster combined with the new coaching staff is better than some seem to believe

Being that we literally won a NC two years ago and had one of the greatest seasons in college football history I would consider anything less than ten wins to be a complete and utter disaster. Eight and five or worse puts cbk on the hot seat for the 2023 season.

This is the key. That transfer portal cuts both ways.

Close to my thoughts. We are unbearably thin right now going into next year. So I’m thinking 7-6 after bowl game a one game improvement on this year. The next year probably 9-4 after bowl game. Then the next year 11-2 would be expected. And just consistent competitiveness year in and out going forward

You can't be serious. 6 and 6 next season and we would be better off cutting our losses right there and looking in another direction, hate to say it, but that's the reality of the situation.

Less than 10 wins should never be acceptable at LSU for any reason. Once although bot acceptable coach can have a mulligan, twice there better be a good reason, 3 times and you are out

While I agree I think the language of the coaching contracts need to change along with how the game is changing. You fall on your face, make bad hiring decisions, embarrass the institution, etc, the coach should not be able to walk away with a 17, 20, 25 million golden parachute.

Idk. Gotta seee what he’s left to work with after the final shake out of this roster.

I seriously doubt we pay out 40 million dollars. So the hot seat doesn’t matter with Kelly.

BK should win 10 games with the current bowl system.... LSU plays 4 gimme games each year and there is no excuse to lose them then LSU has 9 games counting the bowl to win 6.

As much as it seems LSU "lost" the guys playing are still 5,4, and 3* players who were good enough to get offered a scholarship. LSU is still more talented than every SEC Team but Alabama and Georgia based on past 5 years of recruiting.

i care less about the record and more about the way (passion, focus, execution) the team plays.

if we drop a couple tough games to Florida, auburn, etc... it is what is.

i can absolutely live with a 7-5 type season as long as the team gets better as the season progresses.

The answer is simply is he the best guy to do the job at hand, regardless of the record? If the team makes a bowl next year and there is a marked improvement in player development and discipline, for example, like Saban's first year at LSU, and improvement to a better bowl and 9 or 10 wins his second year and a feeling that the program is stable and will contend for conference championships and the playoffs every 4 years or so, then he's set.

Of all the guys we were considering, Kelly probably gives us the best shot at this, probably a little better than Riley. Aranda may develop into the best coach of the bunch but maybe we can hire him when BK retires.

I'm not sure some fully grasp the situation right now. We just put essentially a 1-11 to 3-9 type team out for our bowl game. That team would have only beaten McNeese on our schedule this year plus maybe got lucky in 1/2 other games. That's where the program is at right now.
That is NOT where the program is. Starting in the Spring you will add Brennan, Nuss, and Howard as QB's 1, 2, and 3. That alone puts us into winning category without mentioning all of the other talent who sat out but will be playing in the a couple of months, plus new recruits.

You mean a team that had literally no QB when next year they will have Myles and Nuss, also the starting WR was out but he will be back next season...

Then the offense and defense were practicing with essentially analyst and people who will not be here anymore....

If you think that says what type of team LSU will field next year you are seriously mistaken. LSU has talent through multiple years of top 5 recruiting trips. Plenty of guys have left but plenty are still on the roster.

1st 2 year- a pass
3rd year - need to see 10 wins and a nice bowl game and win
4th year- playoffs or bust

2 of the 4 years need to beat Alabama
