But I’m curious what tRant’s limits to bumps in the road during the first 2 years are. I would accept 8-4/9-3 type seasons the first 2 years as long as our losses weren’t due to poor coaching/scheme and lack of adjustments.

Most fans are reasonable. The people who post on the rant would be ready to fire him if there was a game next week and the team didn't look awesome.

I'm not sure some fully grasp the situation right now. We just put essentially a 1-11 to 3-9 type team out for our bowl game. That team would have only beaten McNeese on our schedule this year plus maybe got lucky in 1/2 other games. That's where the program is at right now.

Year 1 expectations should be very low. I'm not saying we're definitely a 4-8 to 6-6 type team, but we have to see what he can even assemble on the roster in the next few months to put on the field for next season. It's possible we hit it huge in the portal and can put a very competitive 8-4 type team out there but it's also a possibility we're severely depth hurt in areas that cause the team to be more 6-6ish not unlike the last few years.

The vision of BK is pretty apparent and made it so during the bowl game. He is hitting the portal as hard as he can to put together as competitive a roster as he can for 2022. After that, he wants to build the program through more and more freshmen as he gets his staff fully in place and can hit the trail hard there. My guess is we get somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-15 transfers with 17-22 freshmenin the 2022 class. Then in the 2023 class, we're looking more like 20 freshmen to 5 transfers. Then by 2024 class getting mostly freshmen then a few (high level only) transfers with that model moving forward.

He first has to put the band aid on (take a ton of transfers) before program building (freshmen, ones who arent leaving in droves every season as well).

“Rebuild” at LSU doesn’t necessarily mean the same thing it means at Arkansas."
This.
Last year we easily could have finished 9 wins and 3 losses. With a depleated roster. We had no direction and played young men most of the year. I am optimistic in thinking we will be much better coached in all phases of the game this upcoming year. We will need a couple of years to get back to the upper level, but I don't think we'll be as bad as a lot of you seem to believe.

I think 8-5 year 1 is perfectly reasonably, then 9+ year 2, then 10+ in perpetuity is the expectation.

There’s special breed of stupid that flocks to that board during a game.
Far worse than the regular group of idiots that post daily.

39 scholarship players in the bowl.

This is an absolute rebuild from the ground up. Orgeron left the culture rotten and program in shambles.

Saban went 6-6 in his first season. I know there wasn't a portal, but his roster was better than this. He had to change the culture, that doesn't happen in one year.

Agree & disagree
The transfer portal will determine how LSU will finish next yr

Key personal
You have QB Miles (he can throw the ball look at LSU stats 1st few games last season
RB I feel pretty good about
Tight end cmon Bech is a beast and kole is solid
WR boutte is one and done and if we pickup a starter in transfer portal (there is one there that would fit right in) solid
Offensive line is solid

Defense though whoaaaaa
We need DB’s starters (they are in the portal) and he’ll we need to tear the portal up

That’s what really will make or break next season, is the defense

Keep in mind while Tucker took a lot of transfers, he wasn't walking into a situation where he had less than 40 scholarship players either. He got to basically just upgrade the roster where he wanted. BK is having to plug depth holes we have first and foremost.

His success will be determined by how they manage the portal and NIL. 8&4 got the #1 recruiting class bc of money. We know he is a good coach so I doubt he will not have the players prepared. But it's hard to out coach talent.

Its all about his ability to be a top 4 recruiter year in and year out. I have zero doubts we have a top tier coach.
I think he will stabilize the program going into year two.
Then do we have the horses to compete.
Biggest program change since Lil Nicky came to town.
Can't wait

Personally I am expecting to see 9-4 (bowl win) or better in year 1, and a ten win season minimum for year 2. Circumstances will change of course, but that should be the goal and expectation. Rebuilds are easier with the transfer portal so truth be told I think CBK will exceed my expectations in year 1 and be successful quickly

Your expectation seems a bit lofty user Walnut with how the LSU program was left under coach Orgeron.

I see only 3 heavily favored games as Ws and the rest are competitive. Unless you count 4 favored games including FSU, but doubtful that FSU is back.

just don’t expect a win over Alabama.

Why? Alabama is living on it's history. They didn't play this year with any sense of dominance and certainty of victory. Hell, we came within a shadow of beating them with a coach that got out of an empty car at the game.
