You are correct but this thread is not directed at that, it's directed at the guys who had decided Kelly sucks, Napier is great and should have been the LSU hire. Seems to overlap with the Woodward is overrated crowd.

Fair enough.

Shame on LSU for not hiring that lifelong Louisiana guy, with all his Louisiana HS ties and whatnot

This is an interesting take. So guys who were excited about a coach they thought would WIN at LSU aren’t really fans?

Come on, Kelly over Napier was the way to go, but be reasonable.

I do think Napier will do fine at UF.
He needs time as well to establish a program. With that said… he wasn’t the right choice for LSU. BK was the better hire, no doubt.

Gaytors will start dominating LA recruiting just like they dominate FL recruiting…

Literally the only difference is he's an offense guy. Like that's it.

Wont know for sure which hire was better until a few more years from now but Kelly is a proven commodity at the highest level while Napier only had UL-Lafayette to hang his hat on. Maybe Napier brings Florida back to national prominence, but I think Kelly knows what he's doing.

We just need a surefire higher at the time and couldn't afford to take a Gamble on someone like Napier though I do think he's pretty solid coach and in Long Run probably would have been as good a hire as Kelly

I don’t think any pro-Napier guys said that, but a lot of the anti crowd implied the pros wanted Napier because he was “one of us”, which wasn’t true either.

Anyone who really knew more about Napier than that he was at ULL knew he wasn’t a lifelong LA guy.

Not so sure. At the end of 1st half Florida got the ball with 2:27 and 2 TOS. Billy “scared money don’t make money” passively let the clock run and gained 24 yards before a Hail Mary when we were largely in zone.

The stadium booed the Gators off the halftime field.

Call me less than impressed. If you aren’t convinced his clock skills suck go watch that ULL App debacle in the Sun Belt Championship 2-3 years ago.

He may be a great culture process type, but 5 G5 assistants and his poor clock skills will get you beat in a close competitive situation.

That’s bullshite. A large part of the argument for Napier was that he was at usl.

In fact, if he was at Coastal Carolina, he wouldn’t have even been on any LSU fan or pundits radar

Lol, no one said he thought Napier was the right choice BECAUSE he was down the road in Lafayette. That was a weak take projected as an insult by people who knew nothing about the guy EXCEPT that he was at ULL. The same group who thought Jamie Chadwell’s coaching history was superior to Napier’s.

To your point I DID see the take that Napier’s experience and relationships with LA high schools and coaches in LA was a check mark. Which is reasonable.
