Here’s the thing, thinking Napier is a good coach and would have been a good hire while also thinking Kelly is the better hire and coach aren’t mutually exclusive. I’m in this group.

How about all those ND fans glad to see BK leave. We won at every turn. They will be fine and back on top but it will take a couple years to reload the cupboards with talent to be deep at all positions.

LSU, Louisiana’s flagship public research institution, would never hire anyone to a significant leadership position who has the stink of USL on them.

He’s waiting for just the right moment. Game changing coordinator isn’t something you deploy lightly and it’s kind of a once a season thing. You can’t take it back and it’s done for the year.

You are correct but this thread is not directed at that, it's directed at the guys who had decided Kelly sucks, Napier is great and should have been the LSU hire. Seems to overlap with the Woodward is overrated crowd.

No one that believes in Kelly now thinks last night proves he was the right hire and championships are guaranteed.
But you can bet your arse the Napier-baters would have fire bombed this board with SEE WE TOLD YOU NAPIER WAS BETTER had we lost.
Just mind blowing how many idiots are absolutely convinced that we let the next Saban get away because a guy had a couple of good years at UL and think we made a “safe” vanilla hire by swiping the HC out of South Bend in the midst of a playoff run
Kelly was anything but “safe” because the pressure to win was immediate and nothing less than a national championship will make it a success.
Hiring Napier would have been safe as hell because most wouldn’t have expected nearly as much, and certainly not as quickly.

Under different circumstance I would have probably preferred Napier over Kelly. However with the shite show here and seeing how difficult of a time Napier is having with the shite show he at Florida, we needed a more experienced, mature coach like Kelly that could handle the situation.
Kelly knew exactly what he was getting into and his honesty with recruits about the situation is paying dividends recruiting.

With the exception of Mullen and even with Mullen they can crank out top 10 classes at minimum and with urban and even muschamp they were always top 5
