If that's the list then yeah I think we made out like a bandit.

However, if it's a guarantee that Caleb Williams comes with Riley I do think that puts some value on Riley.

A question to ponder is what it would have been like for Riley to have this team and these weapons with Williams under center.

ETA

Frankly regarding Napier....I don't truly think he was ever even an after thought for the folks with coaching hire power at LSU...I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Of course we should be. But let's not forget that a retard swamp monster had the best season ever here, so it's highly unlikely any of the guys on that list would have done an objectively bad job here.

Having said all that, I wouldn't trade BK for anyone right now. Highly impressed with the turnaround in year one.

Some of us were very happy the day of the hire. A lot of TD fools kept running down Scott W. for letting all the "top tier coaches" sign with other teams. Well, guess what? It turned out damn good and the administration apparently knew what they were doing.

I never wanted Riley, and the PAC12 CG & Cotton Bowl perfectly illustrated the reasons why. His teams are all finesse - soft as cotton. This was very evident at OU, and the trend has continued at SC. It's just who he is. He does one thing very well, but there is a lot more to football success than having a flash, pass-happy offense.

CBK prioritizes both sides of the LOS, which is what you need in order to compete in the SEC.

Yep. So maybe the experts of tRant should let the real experts (coaches) pick the QB for LSU so this place can be bearable until next season.

The opinions of this place are never correct.

So were several posters here. In fact, it’s mostly the same ones that are still pissed their inbred dipshit cousin Eddy was fired.

Yea he has some kind of loyalty to Alex Grinch...I'm not sure what it is, but I surely didn't understand bringing him with you from OU to USC....it is probably the reason LSU didn't go after him harder or at all.

The week 1 "I told you so" from some people..

Looks like you can't judge a coach by one game.

Without question, Brian Kelly is the best CFB coach without a national championship going back 50 years. And he's better than a lot of coaches who lucked into championships (O, Chizik, just from the SEC).

So, yes, we got the best possible coach from that list.

Yea I’ll pass on having a dude under center that paints his fricking fingernails before every game he would not have fit in here and the team would not have been in alignment

Anyone who wasn’t thrilled with Brian Kelly as a proven, big time coach the day he was hired is a damn fool. He is absolutely one of the better coaches in America. All you had to do was pay attention to the media outrage when he left nd to know we hit a grand slam.

Now if you got excited about Riley’s cute little big 12 style offense I can see why you would have been disappointed but most objective people knew Riley is what he is…an 8-4 coach if he’s in a real league. His teams are soft and mentally weak. They pile up impressive records against weak opponents and then get boat raced against quality teams. Like clockwork.

I was never thrilled with the possibility of him in the sec for those reasons.

Kelly has built programs from the ground up before and done so at every level. He’s elite. He’s not perfect but there aren’t many coaches who you could say are any better especially if we are talking guys who were realistic candidates for the job. And for that matter you’d be hard pressed to list many coaches who have a more impressive resume. Period.
