Here's the one and only thing you need to understand about "Neck":

quote:

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" (Ephesians 4:29); "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving" (Ephesians 5:3, 4).

You think it's such a great thing, but it's not. Sin does not go unpunished and never ends well. With the use of those words "STTDB", it's 100% wrong and unnecessary.

I honestly couldn't tell you what Neck sounds like or what the words to the song are.

Why is the song called “Neck”?

You can like it or you can hate it. However, under no circumstances, are you allowed to pull the kid card as your reasoning for hating it. It is not LSU football's job to cater to your toddler. They are not LSU students or alumni. LSU does not owe them anything. The fact of the matter is neck creates an undeniable energy throughout the stadium that truly resonates with the players. If your child can't handle a few bad words than you need to be a better parent. Carry on

This is some of the most immature, incoherent babbling I've read on here in a while. And the saddest part is that you thought it was so poignant, and well written
quote:

Really! Its the same logic that doesn't allow beer sales in some stadiums. Because immature, self indulgent fans like yourself, want to ruin the game day experience for everyone around them
quote:

Right? So when it comes time for those parents that were forced to sit and listen to STTDB (repeatedly) to make a huge investment in that once toddlers college years, LSU should not have catered to them, huh?
quote:

The fact of the matter is neck creates an undeniable energy throughout the stadium that truly resonates with the players.

Then you might want to rethink your immature, stupid arse behavior.
quote:

If your child can't handle a few bad words than you need to be a better parent.

My child also cant handle pornography, graphic violence, molestation, physical abuse, verbal abuse, alcohol, drugs, running with scissors, playing in traffic, and jumping off bridges because their friends did it. And I keep them away from those things too

Time to grow up, you narcissistic a-hole

Then come on Mr hot shot. Point out any flaws in my post

The fact that you think it is socially acceptable to sing about sucking a dick out loud in public in front of Women and Children pretty sums up your flaws.

And the fact that you defend it is in itself ignorant.

No shite.

We break em in at the Thanksgiving table. Look over at Mom and say "Pass the dressing you worthless skank", Dad says "dont call your Mom a skank you dickhead" Nothing says Louisiana like lunch with the family.

On a serious note, anyone that screams about sucking a dick of any type in front of a child is a complete dirtbag.

This is crazy, we last won a championship in 2007, when did we start playing neck? 2008? Obviously this garbage song takes away from performance on the field.

I don't see what is so complicated about all this. The answer is very simple. Stop doing the stupid-arse vulgar chant, get your song back. Period. It isn't rocket science. Nobody is arguing that the song isn't fun, that the players don't like it, and that it doesn't get the stadium rocking. I guarantee the same excitement can be generated by leaving the chant out. It is a very simple concept.

There are no children in the student section. What do you autistic idiots not understand about this? The students are chanting it at the opponent, not at your fricking kid! No one is yelling for your fricking kid daughter to suck their dick. It's like you idiots have absolutely no situational awareness

You keep callin everyone idiots. Reminds me of an old saying. “If you wake up in the morning and meet a moron, you likely just met a moron. If you wake up in the morning and meet 50 morons, you’re probably the moron.”

quote:

. You’re right, since sound doesn’t travel and all, only the student section hears it.

The attitude of we're not responsible for what our actions/influence does to kids is wrong.

I would argue that LSU is obligated to provide an atmosphere conducive to the "public", toddler or not.

I'm not sure where you sit at games, but there's at least one loud guy cursing about the game in every section. Whether the band plays neck or not (they should), the kids are gonna hear quite a few curse words if they're at the game.

I do wonder if it will ever get to a point where LSU reduces or eliminates student tickets if the behavior continues. Idk if they would ever go to that level, but it wouldn’t shock me.

Does anyone notice them any more anyway? A chance to scream dick is much more motivating to the student section than cheering for their team. I dont see why they have tickets any way.

Situational awareness? Seriously.

Kids or no kids.

When is it ever appropriate for anyone to yell STTDB?

This is a silly thread. LSU Football and the SEC Network and conference are among other things media empires that sell the product to even larger media empires.

Those media empires sell ads to fund the schools athletic programs and the conference.

No one wishes to purchase ad time when STTDB can be overheard.

This isn’t about kids, it’s not even solely about LSU adm or Band leadership, as revenue from the SEC Net and selling SEC football grows, more and more pressure to be appropriate and not profane will be put upon not only LSU but other member institutions.

This. It's great because of the song, the band and the crowd chanting (before the sttdb garbage) which sounds like some Viking war party or something.

STTDB doesn't add to it at all. Seriously, what is intimidating sounding about stupid kids screaming to suck a tiger dick, bitch? Nothing. Worse, It actually takes an otherwise intimidating chant and makes it sound infantile and nonsensical, as well as trashy.

But this issue has been around for about a decade now and no end in sight for the sttdb behavior, which shows an utter failure to wise up and evolve by the student section.
