The site I was using was basing total defense on points allowed per game, which was 17th.

Calm down.

This seems to be the biggest excuse why people want Pelini back. “He was part of the 07 run!!!!”

Please, Coach O, stay with the concept of young, innovative coordinators and not these retread, has beens.

So your argument against Pelini is based on the '07 defense?

Notable defensive performances in that season were shutouts against Mississippi State and Middle Tennessee and holding Top 10 Va Tech to 7 points.

And the 2 Double OT games were 4 TD games in regulation - "regulation" PPG was probably closer to 17, 17 1/2 PPG.

Let's roll back to 2006 - the "almost" championship year - Auburn catches us early and wins 7-3. Are we hanging THAT one on the defense? A single freakin' TD in that game and we get Florida in a rematch in December.

We beat Tennessee @ Knoxville in 2006 - younger LSU fans don't get this, but at that point, we were 4-20-3 against Tennessee in history. We had won only a single game there in 13 tries at that point in history.

Particularly early in the season, 2006 defense was better than 2006 offense (which had Jamarcus, Bowe, and Davis, all of whom would be drafted in 2007 before the championship run)

Pelini's 2005 (Katrina) defense was excellent as well, holding 6 opponents to less than 10 points (including Top 10 Miami).

Those offenses were innovative AT THE TIME. They're not innovative anymore
Not sure what this has to do with the price of tea in China. Those aren't the offenses in today's game as you said so I don't know how that boosts Bo's resume (and your argument for?) against today's game.

I'm thankful for Aranda's time here, but other than maybe his first year, we never saw one of his defenses sniff how dominant Pelini's were.

They were both multi-overtime games. The scores for those before overtime were 28-28 and 27-27.

One young coach hire worked out well, therefore any experienced coach hire will not work.

The way you see this in a vacuum is the same premise that got you dumbass fans in trouble with predicting Coach O’s downfall

Pelini’s track record is 10x more impressive. You are focusing on two games lol. This is crazy to any sane person.

Wow, here all along I thought the 07 and Miles era were marked by a lack of offensive progress not the defense.

Les Miles says thank you for the image improvement project.

My opinion, the players on these teams still had the Saban culture of playing football.

If Coach O wants Pelini, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Not only did Pelini have top 5 defenses every year he was here at LSU he also had the #1 ranked defense in 09 at Nebraska. Pelini is a phenomenal DC. If you have to make stuff up to make a point then you’re showing your intelligence or lack there of.

More Babytac "Hot Takes" from the past: "Let's call Ed O what he is - a great position coach/recruiter, promoted at Ole Miss who doesn't know what he is doing as a head coach." "Let's call Joe Burrow what he is - a third string QB at tOSU." "Let's call Joe Brady what he is - an intern, basically a coffee-fetcher working for the Saints."
0-3 looks like he’s trying to make it 0-4. I think it’s time you give up Baby Back.
