I am working until midnight this Wed. I am dvring the game vs s carolina and will watch it with my 22 yr old son when I get home. Will get to sleep about 2am, wake up at 5am to go to work thurs am.
Everyone has their opinion, but you are SMOKING CRACK if you think ANY school would rather have a great baseball team over a great men's hoops team. When everyone stops circle jerking each other and keeps it real, Fb and men's hoops are the only sports that matter in major college sports.

Yep. As proud as I am of what LSU baseball accomplished under Bertman, this statement is spot on.

No! NOW! We need to be collecting perspective caandidates as the year matures and name surface. It's cut throat once the season ends and we can't trust alleva head to head with others

Joe Alleva getting a two month jump on a coaching search? With that kind of head start, the rest of the field has no chance!!!

34 people who care about basketball will post in this thread. The 7000 people who don't, won't. So the responses you'll get aren't representative.

I don't care if it's F'ing intramurals, winning breeds success. A piss poor program is a bad reflection on the University.
LSU Alums/Authentic Fans/Season Ticket Holders understand this.

Many others don't and could care less.

It's a refection on the University and Athletic Department as a whole to allow this abomination to continue.

It's showing everybody that LSU has low standards of excellence and doesn't care about public humiliation.

It shows that they're just trying to save a few bucks by waiting until after the season to correct yet another Alleva mistake............

Stupid question after stupid question. I don't know you, OP. But based solely on this thread I'm pretty sure I hate you and would laugh if I saw you get punched by a much bigger guy.

I believe LSU saves a good deal of money on JJ's contract if they wait to the end of the season. And since Alleva screwed up when he gave CLM such a huge buyout he's tying to save a little $$$$$

I would care a lot more if the team could compete. I tried to watch the Florida game and couldn't take 10 minutes of that shite show.

I'd let him finish his contract and then replace him....

He is under contract for a couple of more years. No way he needs to be around that long

You are obviously to young to remember LSU basketball the way it should be. LSU basketball has a great tradition. After UK and I guess Fla , we should always be in top 4 of SEC. Chris Jackson and Shaq and those teams of the 80's and early 90's were my favorite. Football was down so b ball filled in nicely. I want to be great in all 3 major sports.

I agree as well. I have framed pictures of the front page of the Advocate for LSU's first 5 baseball titles sitting in this room I'm typing in right now. I'm proud of it.

But outside LSU an a few other schools maybe State and a half dozen others nobody cares about college baseball, it's a blip on the radar nationally. Women's basketball draws more fans and has better t.v. ratings nationally and quite often softball draws more television viewers.

It would promote the LSU brand much more effectively if we had success in hoops and that's why it is so frustrating to see the lack of commitment in that regard.

Roundball is a 3rd tier sport at LSU for a reason. Who cares, just put all the resources into football and baseball.

This. If there is an upside to firing now or two weeks ago, no one here has made it clear what that is.
