I'm sure there is an eating stadium grass HOF somewhere.

I sat with his agent on a plane ride in 2008. I asked him straight up what happened. Les was never going to Michigan.

Wrong
Both Les and his agent have said that Miles was never offered the Michigan job, because . . . . his agent said he would have taken it, had it been offered
Facts
quote:
Miles went on to say that neither he nor agent George Bass has heard from Michigan.
quote:
Miles has been connected with Michigan vacancies in the past, before the 2007 National Championship Game and in 2010, following the firing of Rich Rodriguez. Subsequent reporting from John U. Bacon have indicated that Miles was never offered the Michigan job on either of those occasions.
quote:
While most of the media speculated the Louisiana State football coach was about to jump to the University of Michigan to succeed Lloyd Carr, neither Miles nor his agent, George Bass, had heard from anyone connected to Michigan in any capacity.
quote:
Miles had no idea if Michigan really wanted him. So Bass, his agent, decided to ask. He said he called Michigan AD Martin's cell phone on Friday and left a message. He just wanted to know where Miles stood.
Then, when he didn't hear back, the agent said he called Martin again."The (LSU) deal was so good that we couldn't just wait," Bass said via phone Tuesday. "I didn't know if we were one of the candidates in the pool at that time. There was just no communication."
Where was Martin? One source places him in Florida, at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo. Wherever he was, he didn't call back.
quote:
Miles called home. Twice.
"He will always love Michigan," Bass said. "It's a place that's very special in his heart. This has been very tough on him."

Never at any time on this earth did I ever consider him to be a great coach. Never.

Can someone explain Miles’ culpability in this?
I didn’t follow closely but wasn’t this his parents involved in the OLOL scam after he graduated where the guy responsible got federal time?
Not sure how this falls under his watch but NCAA gonna NCAA

He was never eligible in the first place.

You have to be a low IQ manchild to be excited about this as an LSU fan. I'd rather have a coach in HOF than get some weird atodaso points 10 years after complaining through the most successful era in LSU history.

Can someone explain Miles’ culpability in this?
I read Funes was still affiliated with LSU AD up until Oct 2020, well after Woody took reigns so I'm sure he was quick to kneel to NCAA.

Yeah. Brought in a ton of O linemen and QBs….

I hope we can just vacate the entire season/post-season games for those years.
That will make me less pissed about his stupidity on the sidelines.

His stubborness killed him.
Calling him “stubborn” is being kind. Truthfully he didn’t have enough brains to make necessary changes to team to adapt to the changing landscape of college football. To be blunt he was “Stupid”

Right....THIS is why he wasn't going to make the HOF

I’m sure someone here will tell me what a great man he is.
Should have been fired after that Ike Miss debacle.

Les always had comparable talent to Saban but he never beat him after the "Game of the Century".
Disagree with this part. After 2012, there was a big gap talent. We each had our share of stars, but as an 85 man roster, we weren’t that close.

Winningest SEC coaches by percentage all-time
Robert Neyland, Tennessee: .829 (173-31-12)
Frank Thomas, Alabama: .812 (115-24-7)
Nick Saban, LSU/Alabama: .804 (148-34)
Bear Bryant, Kentucky/Alabama: .797 (292-69-14)
Les Miles, LSU: .778 (112-32)
Miles is No. 5 all time winning percentage in SEC history. He absolutely deserves the CF HoF.

It’s embarrassing the way we shite on our own coaches. Especially national champion winning coaches. Miles, O, CPM.
Seeing LSU coaches in the HOF is great for the program.

Ah well. We had some amazing games under Les, and won them more often than not!

Well the list of great coaches at lsu would be very slim. Just going by on field results and championships.
None of this really bothers me though, the landscape is diff now. You don’t need to give no show jobs to family anymore. The players can market themselves and play for many teams.
