CTE. Quite possible. I have been told that the great Tommy Casanova is in poor health and has memory problems. The safety protocols for concussions were practically non-existent back then.

Many of the local media in Kansas and former staff members there said that Les had problems. Serious memory problems and not just the quirky silly kind he had at LSU.
The cognitive issues began at LSU. If I'm not mistaken he had a stroke at some point before he got to LSU. My Mom was a speech therapist and when she read that she said it explained alot of the odd syntax and gibberish.
But I would imagine his cognitive issues have not gotten any better an very likely progressively worse.

Slamming your head into a brick wall repeatedly seems to have this affect

Could very well be CTE. He was a lineman.

Would be awesome if he could return during the 2027 season for the 20-year anniversary of the National Championship.

The Les Miles era was peak Was a good 11 year run
In retrospect especially after Kelly, I have a renewed respect for Les. He always had a tough team. Will never forget the Auburn game with last second pass from Flynn to Byrd.
AU game that ended in over time with AU attempted field goal hitting the left goal post.
Or the UF game with multiple 4th down conversions by Hester. I still remember vividly the announcer telling the crowd that USC lost their game.

Les would have never missed a 12 team playoff

i have followed LSU football since I lived in West Stadium in the 60's. The Les Miles era was the best.

He's got the Biden look in those pics.

Man, that's tough to see.

I matched with smacked on a dating app in Dallas less than 2 years ago. That girl moves fast!
I'm not saying that this is happening here, but the timeline with my wife and I moved faster than normal due to family health problems. I didn't have a good reason to wait and FIL didn't last a year after we were married. I'm glad we did it the way we did as he may not have been healthy enough to participate and enjoy those times.

they were not in the dark about his brain tumor issue. It has been well known by everybody and easily googled from long back. His welcome press conference at KU did show him to have serious cognitive issues which had clearly worsened.

This is true and LSU needs to reconcile with him before it's too late. All of his wins vacated by Fat Scott should be reinstated. Verge needs to do the right thing by Les...and recognize the 1908 National Championship.

Well, this just isn't true, but he would have made it as often than not.
Early Les was great, but he was falling off big time by the end of his tenure.
Les would have made 12 team playoff in:
2005
2006
2007
2010
2011
2012
Les would have missed 12 team playoff in:
2008
2009
2013
2014
2015
2016

Dang, his daughters grew up hot. Hope the groom had a fun time on his wedding night

hopefully more come around and realize that Les was damn good here, just ran up against an all time dynasty run by saban. I bitched about Les as much as anyone but in hindsight it was a really fun, entertaining era for LSU football.....and as the previous 2 coaches have shown, it could have been much worse.
Really sucks the window is closing on being able to properly honor the guy and him actually be cognizant for it, if it hasn't already closed.
maybe with Verge as AD something can be done.

Sorry to hear about this. I didn't know he was having some problems. Prayers for Les.

Well, if he were constantly falling asleep and had one half of his face unable to move he’d look like Biden’s successor.
