It was amazing how bad the defense was in House’s last season as DC. Especially considering the season before under House was pretty decent.
Not to say House doesn't deserve a ltotta heat and that we shouldn't have been better in 2023, but that defense just never had much continuity with the injuries (Speights, Wingo, Zy), illness (Greg Brooks) and drama (Duce Chestnut, Denver Harris).
The DBs in particular were already hit hard by guys graduating from 2022 (think Jay Ward, Mekhi Garner, Converse), and then we were trotting out different lineups with inexperienced guys with older guys getting hurt, sick, or quitting/ getting kicked off the team.
After Maason went down, 2022 was pretty much the same group for the season. And even though they had a number of transfers, those guys had played a lot of football at their previous schools.

House's defense was much worse than that year
Definitely. And it cost us an SEC championship, a playoff appearance, and a legit chance at an NC. Really distressing to see stellar performances by JD all for nought because we couldn't stop anybody.
Statistically the Pelini defense in 2020 was the worst. But that season was only 5-5 and LSU didn't even participate in a bowl.

Lynn Amadee. 6 man running back rotations, playing 3-4 QBs in a game, keeping your Star WR on the bench. He brought new meaning to the term “multiple offense” since you didn’t know what type of offense we were going to run from one possession to the next. 5 wide shotgun, the FB playing TB, flexbone with no option or running the option with Chad Loup. You never knew WTF was going to happen with that guy calling the plays but we sure did lose alot.

Just the worst unit I have ever seen take the field for LSU.
