It was amazing how bad the defense was in House’s last season as DC. Especially considering the season before under House was pretty decent. Just the worst unit I have ever seen take the field for LSU.

I feel like theres always a lot of recency bias with these types of questions, but it just cannot be forgiven that Matt House gave us THE worst defense of all time when we had one of our best offenses ever and cost us a real shot at a national championship.

Well I don't remember the stats from that year, but I do remember us having the two co-defensive coordinators who failed miserably. Their failures weren't amplified as much as in 2023 with House because we were nowhere near a title contender that year so 2023 felt worse as a fan.

Of course Matt House. Brian Polian was equally as bad as House for special teams. Kevin Steele because his defense was mediocre to bad here and then he was a thorn in our side for years to come at Auburn.

Yah 2008 is up there for bad defenses for sure. But I just remember 2023 defense being absolutely helpless.
