LSU is a good team-but not dominant. Weather we host a regional or not is not that important. The big picture is this. Can this team get their act together and win 5 games during the next two weeks to get to Omaha ? Can this team beat three or four top 15 teams that will be in Omaha ?

If you are honest the answer is not really. This isn’t a Skip Bertman type team. Too many deficiencies on this team to keep the train in the tracks.

Build for the future and make a serious run in two years.

They have florida as the 15th host, thats just dumb, other than rpi, what do they have over us? We beat them at their place, they are 18-16 in conference, we finished 18-15

So about the same resume, and their rpi is higher, but it's dumb to put them slightly ahead of us? Wow!

As long as we make it to Omaha, I don’t care if we host or not. They can even send us to shitty college station.

Florida’s RPI is inflated by having played Tennessee 3 times - about to be four.

The formula uses opponent winning percentage. Tenn is so much higher winning percentage than everyone else that everyone that plays them gets a larger than normal boost win or lose. Vandy and Georgia are also boosted by this purely mathematical calculation.

Aggies playing us in the Supers would drop their RPI so I think they would forfeit right?

Word. I've been adamant LSU needed to make it to the championship game to make a host site and got 75 replies over 3 or 4 threads bring called everything from an idiot to a retard.

People intentionally blind themselves into delusion.

Sometimes a bad conference record gets balanced out by a good RPI

RPI seems particularly f’d up this year, Vandy is an excellent example at 7 and a 14-16 record.

That’s the definition of the 9-16 host teams.

It’s crazy that UNC may go from not hosting to a top 8 seed in the span of one week.

Does Louisville have fake grass trampolines around home plate?

My impression of their place is it always looks 120 degrees for a regional and they always get a 10AM time slot on espn news.

Another factor will be an LSU sellout >>> 15 people in the stands at Florida (parents players probably)

This isn't 1997. This has ZERO relevance.

Moscona assured me he knew LSU would host if they took 2/3 against Vandy

I agree that playing Tennessee three times is distorting the RPI difference, but it is also true that getting swept by Tennessee is what caused Florida to have a worse overall record against SEC teams. Take away games against Tennessee and Florida is 18-13, while LSU is 18-14. Getting swept by Tennessee shouldn’t cause Florida to be materially higher as the RPI is doing, but it shouldn’t necessarily cause them to be lower as a strict look at conference W-L would suggest either.

Outside of conference Florida took 2 of 3 from Miami (but also lost 2 of 3 against Liberty), while LSU lost 2 of 3 in Houston. I don’t think there’s a lot to separate the resumes, but it’s not unreasonable to conclude Florida’s is better. If they win today, they deserve a host spot before LSU.

I don’t believe RPI will be as big of a factor this year. Also, it’s only fair to consider we were down 2 starters this week. I have to believe that will be taken into account. ( KP and Ben said it would be )
