If he plays, I hope it's at guard unless it's garbage time or early in the season before conference play begins. Emory hasn't had many game reps at guard if any. If you put him at guard and Heard at RT that's essentially two new pieces to your oline right at the beginning of SEC play and I don't like the idea of messing with the chemistry it took a year to build. If I'm not mistaken l, Jones didn't even play guard in high school. You'd have a true freshman with limited game experience playing next to a sophomore at a brand new position.

Jones and Campbell are your book end tackles. End of story. I’m not sure if he can play guard.

From what I've read Heard is still a little raw, but the hope is he slides to RT and Jones goes to guard. That would be an incredible tandem. For now I'd keep Jones at RT because you need experience game 1 when we have to slow down Jared Verse of FSU. He's an elite rusher and will likely line up over RT.

Everyone thinking that Jones just kicks inside to make way for Heard this year either forgot Jones is a freshman all American tackle, or believes Heard is the next Orlando Pace.

This is the rant where as long as you’re a 5 star they’ll cement you in as a starter before ever taking a snap

I hope he gets some valuable playing time without needing to start. As great as Campell and Jones are, we started them out of necessity. I’m sure BK would love to work Heard in slowly without having to throw him to the wolves.

What did Kardell Thomas look like?

Emory Jones is a friggin stud, and he apparently wants to be a tackle. I’m not betting against him.

Long term it would be best for him to redshirt this year and create some space between him and Jones/Campbell. Play Guard next year and then if Campbell goes into the draft he still has 2-3 years left to play LT

Probably, but the best players are going to play. He is the best OT prospect Ive seen coming into LSU since Whitworth.

It’ll be near impossible to pry that RT spot away from a freak like Jones, but it may work out for Heard at RT if he isn’t as position versatile as Jones. We know Jones can play inside, but can Heard?

I doubt it happens this year though.

He whiffed badly a handful of times, (1-2 against Will Anderson I can remember - hard to hold that against him to much). I think he would try to make up for not being as strong as the grown arse men he was going against by trying to lung at them first to start the contact and it got him bit a few times but very few and far between.

Another year in the weight room and coaches getting his technique refined is going to be nasty out there for the next 2 years.

Feels like we have more legit tackle prospects on the roster right now than we did for the entire Miles/O eras.

He's played both Guard spots this spring as well as RT.

I think he can do whatever he wants, but in the past he has mentioned he is more comfortable at Guard.

Why does he have to? Ideally you want the current starters to perform and hold their spots to the level that he can’t get on the field right away. But if even if they do perform I suspect he will get on the field at some point if he is as good as advertised

He had plenty of struggles. He leans way too much

It’s not out of the question he loses the LT spot

Yeah, he had some struggles but he will clean that up. If be very surprised if he loses that spot.

Heard is going to give him a run for his money.

This line is going to be elite in 2 years when they are juniors and heard is a true soph.

Definitely one of your 5 most talented guys

If he earns it then absolutely play him but to say he is "Definitely one of the top 5 guys" before he has taken a single snap is a bit presumptuous.

OL never stays healthy for a full year so I am sure Heard will get his chance, I just think crowning him prior to him ever playing is dumb af.
