Lots of 3 stars turn out to be pretty good. Alfred Blue, Bennie Logan, and Chad Lavalais come to mind. Lloyd Cushenbury wasn’t even a 3 star.

Miami has multiple 5 stars on their roster and consistently top 10 in the country recruiting wise. They paid a 5 star tackle millions to commit to them so that’s a load of crap lol

I’d say the trenches are probably where the “stars” matter more. Skill getting to QB and protecting QB are hard to teach if they are just that dominate than it’s worth it. But a team full of that probably isn’t what you want.

Need a good balance of skill and experience and little youth with talent mixed in.

You realize that two of the 3 teams you mentioned were top 5 in the transfer portal rankings last year right?

Landry and OBJ were like both top 50 overall players in the same class

LSU has had stud 3 star WRs though. JJ, Chark, Lafell. Maybe even more success with DBs.

Miami very much fit this. All the teams that went after stars are not where they want to be.

Miami is the opposite of what you are talking about. They have recruited well since Christobal got there and landed multiple 5 stars. They have also paid to keep their guys and paid for talent in the portal. Such as $4 mil to the guy who scored the last TD. Looks like a pretty good investment today.

So they are using a very different approach to Ole Miss and Indiana and prove that the old way can still work if you establish a culture and focus on the lines of scrimmage.

He has a point. But you have to be able to develop the talent you recruit. Everyone has a ceiling, and if you can’t evaluate that you will have problems. Also that Ole Miss team is built on what Lane wanted it to be he was given time to do that. BK didn’t have the right staff. What he did when Denbrock Jayden first two years was amazing. Should have left that alone and put primary focus on defense because that was the only hole.

This is what’s called survivorship bias. Go look at the all the 3 stars in the same classes as those guys you will see hundreds and hundreds of guys you never heard of
