King Gibson is the third-highest composite-ranked commit in the history of LSU basketball

It sure is nice to have elite five-star talent again. Not only is Wade's commit last night the #1 combo guard coming out of high school, Gibson is the #3 composite-ranked LSU basketball commit in program history (composite rankings debuted in 2012). Wade is just getting warmed up haters!

Using the 247Sports composite rankings, Gibson is the third-highest-ranked commit in the history of LSU. He is someone who could certainly end up as a one-and-done player who ends up as a first-round pick in the 2028 draft, but he has a chance to make a major impact on the school's future. This already has the makings of a statement class.

I can't wait to saddle up and ride with the General Thursday night!

Are Ben Simmons and Cam Thomas the first 2?

Probably Jerrell Martin. Think he was up there

Yes it was Jarrell Martin instead of Cam Thomas. Just looked it up.
Antonio Blakeney was another top 15 rated player in the same class as Simmons. Looks to be ever so slightly rated behind Gibson.

Ben Simmons, Big Baby, Tasmin Mitchell, Jarell Martin and Brandon Bass were ranked higher in their respective classes.

Never doubt the General.

I'm excited about the signing...but even in your quote it is specifically talking about 247 rankings.
Randy Livingston was the Naismith and Gatorade player of the year. Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts, and Shaq were all McDonald's All-Americans.

Wade can’t survive in the NIL era - or so I read.

Ronnie Henderson was ranked high also

What you said. ALL of those guys were higher rated than Gibson.
Also John Williams and others. Rudy Mackilin was ranked sky high, but was probably before "modern recruiting."
Howard Carter, Livingston. The list is LONG of stud basketball players we've signed here over the decades. We just haven't had the coaching to go with it. Now we do, and it's gonna be GLORIOUS over the next 10-15 years in BR, along with what Kiffin is about to do as well.

The superior recruiting services didn’t have Shaq rated as a senior in high school. I still have my street & Smith’s from that year. And anyone 6-7 and taller gets rated. Maybe they skipped San Antonio that year.
