This is perfect. With the transfer portal it would be like a feeder to LSU.

The article wasn't as specific, as being in the works, just,as noted, CKM bouncing ideas around in her head. She did mention a concern re the weather. And no way this game would draw 100,000+ fans in T.S.

She's like Dale Brown but with coaching ability.

They could play it on the same court where midnight basketball is played.

She talked about it in her post game last night. She said she throws out ideas in her head. She didn't sound like this was something that would happen. She mentioned football game scheduling issues, what setting up the floor on the field might do to the grass along with weather issues. I don't know what set up she was picturing, but in my mind, it would be seating around the floor on the field and maybe some in the stands, though I don't think this will happen.

I can’t seem to get the link to the Advocate article from their app. But she says she has talked to Tate about playing them in TS next year and having proceeds from the game go to Southern to help them establish an NIL program for their players.
I didn’t realize it was legal to sell tickets to your games and use the money for NIL.
Why aren’t they already doing that?

It'd have to be post-football season (laying down floor would kill the grass).
Then you're looking at cold weather.
But I love that they're at least thinking about and trying to work through the logistics.

LA Tech and Tulane are the only decent successful WBB in-state schools I can think of. All the rest are ho-hum in WBB. Wish we had good in-state rivalry like TX/A&M, Bama/Auburn.

I have no problem with any of our coaches in any sport thinking out of the box. It only adds exposure to the school, athletic program, and state of Louisiana.

Why don't they do it in Mumford? I'm sure people would drive across town to see it.
Yeah that’s what I want to do… go to southern to watch a sporting event.
Women’s basketball at that

Basketball on a grass court, I like it.

Frankly, I'm surprised by all the negativity in the responses. I applaud Coach Mulkey for trying to find a way to generate attention to WBB while also creating good will w/ a follow LA university. Yeah, there'd be a lot of logistics to work out, but that's why a big time athletic program like LSU has as many employees as it does. After some study, maybe it turns out to not be a good idea or it's too complicated a project, but give Coach Mulkey some credit for being forward thinking.

Along these lines, I wonder if this could be an “event” put on by the NIL collective where they paid for the use of Tiger Stadium and paid the teams for participating.

Tie 10 barges together and play it on river just below the Bluff ……….. brilliant

Didn’t realize it was LSU’s responsibility to fund other schools NIL.

Kind of a low bar there, Kim! How about playing a national title contender instead.

She needs to raise NIL money for the LSU men's basketball program.
